So, I was walking to a buddies house the other night and across the sidewalk scurries a white thing, and it goes under a bush. I bend down to check it out, and it's a little albino rat. He wouldn't let me grab him at first, but after some coaxing he left the shelter of the bush and got on my shoulder.
First impression- very cool little guy. Can pick him up, flip him on his belly, rub his whiskers- whatever, and he never bites. My friend told me he had seen this little rat running around all year, and when he tried to catch him, he got bit. :D He spent the night in a shoebox, as I wasn't able to drive home that night. I could hear him sneezing all night, supposedly rats are very susceptible to colds, and it is very cold outside.
First thing in the morning I went and bought a water bottle and rat food. I already have a 20 gallon aquarium so thats what he's in now.
Anyways, he's really cool... If I want to carry him around, he climbs in my pocket and peeks his little head out. I play with him all the time, because I know rats are social creatures and get lonely.
But I don't want to keep him. I love animals, but I already have a Bearded Dragon, and rats aren't really my thing. I already went through the hamster/gerbil phase when I was little, and I would like to leave that behind me. :D So now I'm trying to find the little guy a home with one of my friends... I'll stick it out with him 'till then.
