View Full Version : Grip Tape suggestions

I have heard a few people mention using grip tape on spydies with SS handles. I'm considering doing this, but I thought it might look nice if the tape was in some sort of design... maybe the spyderco spyder.

Any idea of how I might do this?

Thanks

Depending on how wide you can get the textured tape, use an X-Acto knife (or one of your Spydies, if the edge and tip are real sharp) and cut the tape from through the backing. Then just peel off the backing and apply. Definitely would help-to draw the design on the backing and/or score it before you actually start cutting.

I would suggest useing decal grips that are made for Glock pistols. From what I have heard they will not come off unless you take them off.Not bad price either.
Then cut the spydie off the box and trace it onto the back of the tape and cut it out(sounds easy-don't it).

Going back a few years and could be useless now, but... when I used to Skate there was a co. that produced Grip Tape called "Fly Paper." The grip was great, without too much grit (i.e. rocks in there) and there were cool looking flies cut in the paper (precut). Would be perfect, if it still exists.

Black Magic. They make the best grip tape around, and it's not overly course either.
I skate and it's the brand I use.
