Ok my PE Merlin is disobeying my 204 and just doesn't wanna get sharp...grrrr.

Where do I send it?

Also how should I package it, because, I like a fool, threw the box away

Should I just get a padded envelope and some bubble wrap and wrap it up really good? Or should I wrap it in bubble wrap and put it in a mailing box?

Please someone help me.

Wrap it in some bubble wrap, put it in one of those USPS small boxes that they let ya have for free, put a letter explaining what you need and I think $5.00 or so(I would check with warranty to see how much) and mail. I would mail it insured. Just in case. Hope this helps.

What steps and the 204 are or have you been using?

A SPYDERCO knife is the most expensive and least effective screwdriver you will ever buy. However, we do have the

Have you been using the 30degree back bevel as your primary edge? Try sharpening at whatever angle you have not been using.

Just spend two hours trying to sharpen my Calypso Jr. with my ProFile set, and it just wouldn't take the edge well. Kept trying to wire edge on me, and it never got that hair-shaving edge. It's going back to Colorado to see what they can do with it. They may have to replace the blade (I ground it down quite a bit). Maybe a sharpmaker will do the trick better, or maybe I was just trying too hard. Any tips that you guys have on how to sharpen a plainedge would be welcome. I just don't understand it. I followed all the directions to the letter...

I am using the corners of the white stones on the 40 degree angle.

It is crazy because when I look at one side of the knife it shows "more angle" than the other.

I have no problem sharpening an of my other knives.

I would suggest trying a 204 before you give up on the Calypso. Some stores have 204s out for people to try, and I would suggest giving that a shot.

Keepin' it real...real sharp, that is.

Well, I very carefully gave the knife another try on my ProFiles, and I got a hair-shaving edge back on it. Not exactly the factory edge, though. If a Sharpmaker is easier to get good results on, it's definitely my next purchase. Now that I've gotten a good edge back on the blade, the next question is the tip. It isn't needle sharp anymore, and it seems unlikely it'll get that way on the ProFiles. How do you put a needle tip back on a blade using the Sharpmaker, or the ProFiles for that matter?

That's the problem with the 204. It has a tendency to round off tips unless the user is very skilled and careful. To restore a tip, use one of the stones as a file and gently hone the length of the blade. That should bring the tip back to you!

I absolutely love the way the 204 works, it just requires some level of care and skill to get ideal results.

S&S: Thanks I have had the same problem with getting a sharp tip.

Complimentary Sharpening: I sent a Walker LtWt for sharpening and the wonderful people in Warranty and Repair tested the knife for any problems, determined a manuf defect, offered me a new knife of equal value since the Walker is discontinued. Great customer service!!!! They could have just sharpened it and sent it back. Spydie is No.1.

Dear KrazieKurtis ;
Trust me on this one.
I've sent my "Cricket" for polishing &
resharpening with a $15.00 money order
and got my knife and the $15.00 m.o.
back. I think Spyderco's tel# is
(800)-525-7770 ( check with your catalog
literature or better informed forumite as
I am doing this on a remote terminal ) press
option "2" and then check out your
phones keypad ( such as "1" is A,B,C ) and
spell out MIKE. That's Mike Hayes, in
warranty and repair, just don't take up
too much of his time! Send your Spydie
in a "bubble sealed" U.S. Postal envelope
( .99 cents ) and postage ( about $3.50
first class ) and insurance ( about $2.00
depending on the amount of ins. required
etc ) and, in about two weeks you should
receive your re-sharpened Spydie !
Go U.S.P.S. ! God Save America !
