I have heard a little bit about this steel. Could anyone tell me more about this steel. Does spyderco use it?
In the land of knives, Spyderco is king.

Rookie, go over the "Bladeforums.com" and to a search on this steel.
You'll come up with days & days worth of info on it. Oh yes, No, I don't
think spyderco has ever used this steel.

Not yet...
It's a brutishly strong steel, can achieve a very sharp edge and holds it very well. It feals a lot like CPM-440v and can be as difficult to sharpen. It's a bit "toothy", so it makes a great steel for outdoor knives.
BG-42 has been used on the prototype for Spyderco's upcoming Ocelot, and rumours have it that it is likely to make it into the production model.

BG-42 is a VIM / VAR stainless ball bearing steel. Very good edge retention, very good corrosion resistance. Somewhat expensive.
We've got a bit of it in Golden. Still deciding what to put it in.

Hey Sal, how about using it on a run of SS PE Delicas ?
I know it wont happen, but I can always dream <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle>
