Anything's possible...I didn't really believe we were getting a check last year until I had the money in hand. ;)

With that said, in all the talk of "economic stimulus" and "bailouts," I have not heard any talk of a tax rebate to individuals.

haven't heard anything about this, and never received my economic stimulus check last year... change of address screwed it up. i might potentially have a credit to my account, though.

just finished my taxes last night... can't wait for my refund. :D

My impression is that we are not getting jack. The government is going to be giving out stimulis packages to States, Cities, etc. Not individual people this time.

Maybe I'm wrong.

Government knows how to spend it a lot more than we do.

There's a $500 tax credit in the bill right now but the Republican leadership wants it out because people who don't make enough to pay $500 in income tax will still get it if they pay that much in payroll taxes. No telling at this point if it will make it.

Note - tried to stay neutral in reporting this as we don't need any political arguments.

Spend it, throw it away, give it to corrupt companies in financial trouble so the ceo's can take a expensive vacations, easy come easy go right? :( In no way should they give it back to us, that would be an outrage! :D

Made it into the final bills - $500 per-worker, $1,000 per-couple tax credits in 2009 and 2010

The house bill gives this to everybody. The Senate bill phases it out for individuals making over $70,000 and couples with over $140,000 of income.

There's also a $1,000 dependent child credit and a $300 payment to those (that's me!) on Social Security.
