I finally got around to purchasing my first spyderco knife, the endura 4 wave last week. When the knife came, the spine of the blade looked like it had been ground with a bench grinder and left alone and the edge was sharpened very unevenly. I was able to sand down the spine and polish it to a mirror polish in about an hour. This nightmare all began when I began sharpening the blade:mad:
I really should not have had that much coffee earlier. I was sharpening a little too quickly and the diamond stone slipped out of my hand and scratched the side of my brand new knife!! I realized that the only way to fix this was to remove the blade and begin wet sanding the blade of my poor spyderco. Well the good news is that after 3 days of sanding with wet sand paper starting from 800-1500-2000 grit and polishing it with mothers mag and aluminum polish, it looks pretty dang good:eek:
After I polished the blade, I sharpened the blade with a coarse diamond stone followed by both sides of my fallkniven dc3 and finally with my trusty translucent Arkansas stone. The edge is a deep 15 degrees and ended fairly polished. Here are some pictures of the finished product. Sorry I didnt take a picture of the knife before I fixed it:o

Well done!
What a sharp mirror you have!

But:
Do you intend to use your E4 or will it be mainly a safequeen?

Cause all of my blades have scratches of some sort, it comes naturally from daily use...

Well I would have preferred a nice stonewashed look or any even finish but I didn't have access to anything other than my polishing kit. I would love to stone wash the blade but It seems a little late now:p
But generally I don't use my knives for much other than the normal light use tasks that any pocket knife would be used for:D
