Did some searching, and found a site that may have a full-size Micarta Calypso Plainedge. Looks great, like an Endura with a finger choil. It's a little expensive, so I wanted to know what you guys throught of this old knife. BTW, I love my Calypso Jr. Lightweights!

It is in my top 5 favorite folders and I have a lot of folders I was very sad to see it discontinued.

I have to say that I love my Calypso. Besides being a great knife, the darn thing is, at least to my eyes, one of the best looking folders out there. If you do get one, I don't think you will regret it.

The micarta is classy and the knife is long, strong and slim. It rides very low and weighs nothing. VG10 is an excellent steel.

Its a no-brainer... get it, and a Calypso Jr in micarta. They are classic Spydercos.

Sharp1...
Not my pic, butt it looks like the bottom one was just closer to the light source or tilted slightly differently. The Calypso was only made in VG10, as far as I know.

Here's one more

Yep, the Lrg Calypso, like the Calsypso Jnr Lwt is a clasic.
A no nonsence cutter in an elegant design.

I've got the fully serrated version, and if I can't find a Lil' Temperance drop point next month I'll be looking for the PE Lrg Calypso instead.

Flat ground VG-10 blade, micarta scales, good action. I like the blade a lot. Snag one if you can.

What is the OAL?

The Blade length?

The cutting edge length?

Might put the SS Worker on hold...

Dunno what the exact lengths are for the blade, but it's 5.25" closed, so it has to have at least a 4.5" edge length. Probably around 10" overall length. It's a long knife. If this site still has one when I get the money to justify it (next Wed.), I'll pick one up, if only for show. It's a bit big for what I consider everyday use, but I'm getting a 2002 Endura in next Monday, which may broaden my horizons in terms of a "long knife". Man, this Spyderco virus is expensive! Of course, there is no cure, so I guess I just have to control the symptoms... But there are so many good Spyderco knives!

I have one more question dealing with the Calypso and Jr, for the guys at Spyderco. Why was such a good working knife discontinued? It was only made in VG-10, which in my observation is your new flagship steel. The Calypso and its little brother may look the same and fill the same roles as the Endura and Delica, but the difference is in the details. Some of us prefer that finger choil to a fingerguard in the handle. And, the leaf-shaped spear blade is less aggressive-looking than the wedge-shape of the Endura and Delica, even in such a large knife as the full-size Calypso.

Liko, If you have a chance to buy a Large Calypso ....DO IT!!
If you buy no other knives this year this is the one to buy.

Of all the many ,many knives I own the Large Calypso is by far
my favorite as a sharp light as a feather companion. THIS is the
knife that goes everywhere with me when I'm not at work. I've
never felt under knifed with the Calypso on board.

When you get your's you're in for a special treat the first time
you open it........you will be greated with a pronounced "Snick"
the lets you and everyone else with in ear short know the Calypso
is now ready for business......whatever that business might be.
And sharp!!! This is one knife you don't play with......unless you
like the sight of your own blood.......this bad boy bites the careless.
Strictly a knife for the experianced knfe owner.

I just got bitten last night by my Rescue Jr. while I was testing its sharpness. Drew my thumb across the blade (not along it, like rank amateurs), pressed a little too hard, and it bit right in with one of the points. It's a sharp little SOB. Haven't had any problem with my other two knives rebelling against me, so when I get the money, I'll pick up that Calypso.

Ruxton I know what it means I was asking the measurements of this knife

I think I may have to put that Worker on hold

Might, just might put the PE Starmate on hold if I can find a site with a PE Large Calypso (for around 80-90 bucks)

Guess we found the same site. I bought mine, so I'm no longer under the code of silence. It's www.bladez.com. It's in TX, so if you're not from around here, you can get one for 89 bux even including shipping.

Hi Folks,

I have a “Father and Son” Calypso pair that I’d be willing to sell. This pair is comprised of:

A micarta large Calypso in VG-10, and a micarta Calypso Jr. in AUS-8; both with a plain edge. These knives were purchased together new, about one year ago. Both are in excellent condition and have been used very little. Both original boxes are included.

Here are some pictures of them:

Look at the first image there, then click next to view the other two images (three views altogether)

No reply from Bladez yet, sent the email yesterday at 2:30 something, it's 4:21.Nothing really to big time worry about but I'm anxious.

When I emailed the "back-up site" they replied zip-zip

liko

Bladez has replied to me, saying that they're out of stock, but may still be able to get a few from their supplier. I wish em luck. My backup site (we probably have the same one) does have them in stock, according to the lady that answered when I called.

theginsu - I haven't really decided what I'd need to get for them. Thought I would see if anyone was interested first. You could contact me via email if you wish; at "pinshooter@canada.com".

Tightwad - I understand your shock and amazement. It's just that I don't seem to end up carrying them much lately, compared to all of the rest. I adore them but I keep desiring different designs. I have enjoyed these beauties for awhile, and now would be prepared to let someone else enjoy them.

You're right...I must be crazy. Jeff.

I may be interested in a partial trade/sale involving a G-10 Harpy for my large, plain edge Calypso. I have decided to keep the small Calypso. Anybody interested?
