I recently purchased a David Boye Dendritic Cobalt Lockback (Eagle Wing wide-blade with dark blue frn handle) from John Jensen (great service from a nice guy who still has mucho oldies but goodies in his inventory) and noticed the knife's similarity to a Spyderco Chinese Lum folder. To satisfy my curiosity I placed the Eagle Wing right on top of the picture of the Chinese Lum which appears on the 2001 Dealer Catalog--and voila, a virtually perfect profile match. Does anyone know if Bob Lum also collaborated on the Boye lockback?

I've been intrigued by the Chinese Lum's blade profile but the knife was low on my "to get" list. It was the dendritic cobalt's corrosion resistance and "legendary" cutting performance that induced me to purchase the discontinued Boye but the Chinese-Lum-like design was icing on the cake.

Maybe I'll eventually get a Spyderco Chinese Lum but for now I'll try carrying the Boye as an EDC and try to informally and non-scientifically compare the performance of the dentritic cobalt vs talonite.
