I would like to pay tribute to Mike Sastre of River City Sheaths. This AWESOME dude makes the most AWESOME neck sheaths I'd ever came across! I've packed em all over the world and there's nothing bad I can say about them sheaths except : THEY ROCK! When it comes to neck sheaths for your spydies, Mike's THE MAN! <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle>

Well I only have one of Mike's sheaths, but I'm impressed. I like it alot. Since my pockets are full it makes it easy to carry my Mouse around my neck. <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle>

Dude ~ The sheaths retail between US$25-35. Mike has most of Spyderco's models covered in his line-up. Check out his CF-checkered pattern sheaths! They are AWESOME! I have my sights set on the Olive Drab colored Military nech sheath.. Hey pachuks, the butt-down hole out method eases deployment! Believe me, once you pack these sheaths, yo'll want more! <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle> Well, maybe one day, I have a customise military neck sheath that allows horizontal carry conversion with a mini teklok! <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle>

Yeah, I think the Rookie is covered.. But you'll have to raise another 10 bucks to get it though.. <img src="sad.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle> The sheaths are made from concealex, a thermoplastic material with RC hardness at 56-59.. Good stuff! <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle>

About the sheaths, is it possible to get one which carries the knife in the open position?

I have a sheath that carries a PE Delica in the open position. It was intended to be legal on planes...Pachucko

I think S&amp;S wants a sheath where he can just pull out his Spydie and have it usable, not need to flick it open after unsheathing. At least that's how I read it. I really can't see anyone wanting a sheath, so you can carry the knife with the blade out. *shrug* <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle>

Yeah dudes, I've seen a sheath that allows the spydie tp be carried in &quot;open&quot; position. Its really cool to have, but if you wade in water a lot or remain seated for a long time in a boat, its better to have the knife folded. Mike's concealex sheaths are solid in that way.. <img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle>

I was curious about the open sheaths because it seems a perfect way to carry a knife for self defense. I personally don't carry a Spydie for that purpose, but many people here do.

Thanks, Samo and all, for the nice comments on my sheaths! I can and have made sheaths with the blade already deployed, but given the fact that you can deploy the blade right on the drawstroke from the closed folder neck sheaths, in most cases this isn't advantageous. Pinch the Spydie Hole with thumb and forfinger, then do the standard tip up inertia opening (Spydie Drop) right out of the sheath. The lighter handled knives require only a little more snap to do this - the Military almost opens itself.

I find that the &quot;Spydie Drop&quot; doesn't leave you with a very secure hold on the knife, IMHO. Are all your sheaths neck models, or do you make belt and IWB also? Pachucks
