Remember my first thread, in which I praised my Native's slightly softer spring as making the knife easier to close while still locking it very securely? Well, either my fingers have gotten stronger from closing my other knives, my tastes have changed slightly, or my Native's spring has softened significantly. It's now TOO soft, still not to the point where the lock can fail accidentally, but it's too easy to open the lock, leading to some surprises the last few times I've closed the knife.

The lock should definitely be covered by warranty; Do I just send it in and ask them to adjust or replace the spring?

Hi Liko, it's my feeling too that the spring on the Native does not hold the blade closed tightly enough for comfort. In addition, the point of the blade is not nested deep enough into the handle (a design flaw) and it only needs to move a small distance to become exposed to your fingers as you reach into your pocket. It is for these reasons that I do not carry my Native. Spyderco should make improvements on the Native in future productions by widening the butt (to cover more of the point when in the closed position) or shave down the blade tang so the blade nests deeper into the handle and/or do something to the pin that holds the clip to allow the blade to nest deeper. I know alot of people adore the Native (sorry guys/gals) but this is my honest assessment based on my experience. Please turn your "flames" off because I really am a Spyderco fan and have many other fine Spyderco's that I like alot.
