Just going to say welcome.I don't know enough about the Worker to anser except to say that you have a nice first Spydie. If you stay around here it won't be your last.
Jeff
It could be one of two things. Either you have one of the first run of the original worker, in which case I would take VERY good care of it, or you have one of the limited edition re-releases of the Worker in stainless steel. Either way, I'd use it as a gentleman's knife, not for hard use. For an EDC knife that can take a beating, I'd take a look at the Delica, Native, or Calypso Jr. lightweights. The Calypso Jr. is discontinued (a shame), but you can probably still find some if you know where to look. If you have the cash, buy two, and keep one in as new a condition as possible.

Welcom to the forums. <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle>
The Commemorative is Almite coated.
So if you are positive that it is absolutely positively stainless steel , with no Almite covering you got yourself an original.
BTW I think all of the Commemorative ones are numbered (1200 of them) so if it is up to 1000 it is another clue that it is an original, I think.
If I were you, I wouldn't carry it, I would probably set it in my display case. You should look into an Endura for a nice EDC <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle>

Sounds to me like it could be a numbered worker that has been seperated from a 1992 "Evolution Edition".(0001 - 1000)
The Spyderco "Evolution Edition" was the Spyderco 10th anniversary commemorative set consisting of 2 like numbered workers encased in a clear lexan tube.
One worker was a plain edge SS worker with 2 screw clip and unchamfered handle.
The second worker was a serrated Zowada damascus blade with rubber kraton inserts in the handle and clip.

The original Worker had scales that were different thicknesses. The clipside scale was twice as thick to accomodate the clip screws. Later they were made the same thickness.
The Evolution models were made in 1992 I believe. I have a SS 2screw clip model #0121 butt with the equal scales, so I don't believe it is a first production run. The numbering style is the same as the Evolution model. I don't believe there were 1000 Evolution sets produced tho.

I just won an auction for a Commemorative Worker on ebay. The Worker was my first Spydie back in 1984. Kinda partial to the pointy lil devil stick. ><g>

The Workers are definitely aesthetically pleasing. The blade shape is great. Now, if it was only a little larger, available with G-10 handles with double liners---Pachucks
