Police, PE. One of the Spyders that I believe demonstrates the epitome of Spyderness, and just a classic knife.

The Gunting is a cool knife, but the Police seems far better suited to utility usage, and as a last-ditch defense tool.

Keepin' it real...real sharp, that is.

Get the PE Guntung

Here's how it is so far: Leaf Temperance, if they don't have that Gunting.

This place has the Gunting for 20 bucks cheaper.

KK, why not forget both those knives and get the blue chinese lum for $117. That is an awesome deal on an awesome knife.

I haven't hit that phase yet where the Lum Chinese appeals to me, something about the handle that looks like I wouldn't like it.

Maybe when the virus gets more developed.

OR I could cancel the PE Starmate for my b-day, and get a PE Blue Lum...

Well, what's the site?

Oh! It's at Shoplite...

I am weary of that place, and I made a thread on it. The replies I got in the thread made me wary of them.

After carful consideration...

I decided to go with the Lil' Temperance and for my b-day I am asking for a Salsa and Police Necklace.

Then with the $$ that I get for my b-day I am gonna get a Gunting.

Get the Leaf Blade Temperance. It was a great grip unlike any of the other Spydies and a nice wide thin blade, it should cut like crazy and not so big that it would freak everybody around you out. I will probably pick one up sometime in the next few months.

The Gunting does not move me at all. I know that there are those who love them but give me the Lil' Temperance or the Chinook or the Military.....

I just got a spear-point Lil' Temperance to go with my upswept-point Lil' Temperance. It is a sweet knife.

But nothing beats the Lum Chinese Folder.

Which style do you like better? Why does everyone seem to like the leaf blade? I plan on going with the trailing point when the SE version is available--Pachucks

I plan on owning all four styles when serrated comes out.

PE-Leaf
SE-leaf
PE-Trailing
SE-Trailing

And if combo comes-those also
And if CF comes-those too
And if SS comes-those too

I plan on liking it

Well, seeing that I just got the spear-point (SP) yesterday, I can't really comment about its "performance" over the trailing-point (TP), but to me, I find the SP shape more appealing. The TP has more of a belly than the SP, which is good, but I don't think the TP would be as useful for jabbing.

I like both, which is why I have both (well, I'm still waiting for my local dealer to get in the matching # to the SP), but again, I find the SP more pleasing.

One more thing, a small nitpick: the blade is a _spear-point_ not a "leaf blade". I want to emphasize this fact because 1) that's what Spyderco calls it, and 2) the Lum Chinese Folder has a leaf-shaped blade, which is distinctly different from the spear-point Lil' Temperance.

Nomaded, Thanks for the clarification. I guess "leaf" blade has been thrown around for so long I really assumed it was the proper nomenclature. Do you also have a Gunting, if so how would you compare the lock, do they seem to be equivalent strength/safety-wise? Pachucks
