Anyone have any information about these things. I have one in my safe. I got it so long ago that Steve Martin was still with the company. It doesn't even have a serial number, just a certificate certifying it as a prototype. Any information would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

You guys got it right, it's retired detective. Twenty six years with Salinas, CA PD, 19 in investigations and 7 in patrol. Never wanted to join the management crowd. Also, one year with another PD and three years in the Military Police. I thought thirty years of policing was enough.
The guy who helped me get the folder was Steve Garten, not Martin. I don't know what I was thinking when I wrote that.
The story is that one of the Yellowhorse family, I believe it was David, started doing these things for Spyderco. I was told that there were contract problems with another company and he had to quit. Therefore, there aren't too many of the Yellowhorse knives. He did Police Models and Workers. I don't know what the contract problems were, or even if there were any. That's strictly hearsay, and should be taken with a very large grain of salt. Like about 5 pounds.
Thanks for the welcome aboard. I appreciate it.

Hi RetDet! Welcome to Spyderland! <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle>
I'd definitely hold on to the Yellowhorse Police. They were made in extremely limited quantities, and are thusly very rare. I believe he had problems with United Cutlery, which would explain stopping manufacture.
Keepin' it real...real sharp, that is.
There were fewer than 200 made.
