Broken Canon

Has anyone ever broken the lens on a Canon Powershot? Do I have to send it in for repair? I know it won't be covered. It's not the glass that is broken, but it will not retract. I dropped it when I fell on a hiking trip :(

Is it a PowerShot S45 or similar?

I have one that broke and I fixed it. Are you talking about the lens cover and how it moves left to right and now it's not retracting the lens?

It's the SD850is. There is no sliding cover if that is what you are talking about.
