Just got my micarta Jester in the mail today. WOW I really like this little knife. It is only slightly larger than my Ladybug II but seems to be much easier to open and hang on to due to the larger opening hole and the contours of the grip.

The blade shape is very handy, much like my Wegner or an older Terzuola, and the little grooves on the hump and over the tips add a lot of control. I wish all of the bigger knives came with these grooves on the back of the hump.

Are micarta models the exact same size and profile as the frn models? This burgandy micarta is too pretty to go onto a keyring, but my Ladybug II's days are numbered when the frn Jesters come out!

I really like the micarta Jester too.

I think the micarta scales help with the ease of opening.

I've been wondering about the grooves on the tip. What are their purpose?

I think that the grooves on the tip are desinged to give you a couple of other options for both detail and heavy cutting to increase control.

I have been playing with the Jester, and I can stretch my thumb up and put its tip on the front grooves, and seems like this would allow to to take some stress off of the lockbar if I have to cut something a bit stout. Also you can grip it with your index finger down the spine of the knife and then cut with it like running the tip of your finger over things.

Wow, this is so cool. Mine is due via Big Brown tomorrow. I can hardly wait. More impressions to follow when I get it. May have to get my wife a green (her favorite color) FRN version even though she doesn't really care about knives.

DJ,
Good to see ya! Have to echo Jurphaas on the "Finest LBK" statement. Traction grooves are the shiznezz on almost any knife. Looking forward to the Twice Mice in G1-10 and CF from Tim. How are the Blue Jays BTW??
