Hey guys,

Relatively new to the forum, but I have a quick question. Was wondering, now that the Salsa has hit the streets for a while, what do you guys think of it?

and if I were to purchase, should I go for the Ti version or will the aluminum handled version do just as well? (benefits/drawbacks)

Thanks for your input.

Oh, and another thing.... I heard that the blade comes dangerously close to the laynard bolt when closing!?!? Should I wait till the next run of Salsas or is this something that isn't a big deal (Spyderco can fix), etc.?

Thanks again.

I currently have a green Al Salsa, and I plan on picking up a Ti Salsa when my local dealer gets them in. As for which one to get, the obvious answer is to get both. <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle> For a more realistic answer, I would think it depends on a few things - 1) cost and 2) preference.

Cost matters here because the Ti version costs about double the Al version, as I understand it.

As for the preference bit, there are some who do not like the logo that's on the left scale on the Al versions. The Ti version has no logo. The Al version also comes in 3 colors; the Ti does not.

As for the blade hitting the lanyard bolt, yes, this can happen, on current Al models. You pretty much need to close the blade pretty hard to get it to tap the bolt. It causes a small flat part on the blade that can be easily removed with a sharpener. The Ti was delayed slightly so they could all be resharpened.

Carlos and/or Sal has mentioned that the next run of the Salsa will have a slightly smaller in diameter lanyard bolt, to help prevent this.
