Just got my 2nd eeepc today. CHEAP...
Figured 99usd+shipping for a new battery, or 150usd-ish for a used 701. Found one listed for parts for 50usd and started the bidding. 19 bids later I got it for 112usd (they kept trying to out bid, with my max being 142 :p)
When I saw the description on the sale I figured it was a software issue which was why my max was the same a s a working one.
Came today, fired right up with my charged battery from my old 701. About 20min after walking in the door I had it running and fully updated... on a "dead" laptop with bad pics in the auction.
Love it when people do things like that, makes it so much easier to get a deal.

You're bidding on a cosmetically perfect Asus EeePC 701 4G Surf.
The LCD and keyboard are fully functional. System will not power up, however, because I tried updating too many things at the same time via the Linux updating application (I'm not a Linux expert by any stretch).
If anything, this unit can be salvaged for the LCD, battery, 4GB solid-state drive, and whatever else you can harvest from it. If you're familiar with flashing the ROM, reinstalling a new BIOS, and overall Linux system recovery, this unit can be as good as new with a little elbow grease and know how.
Feel free to ask me any questions!
Unit is sold as is, without warranty, with original DVD.
Thanks, and Happy Bidding!

Should know by now that 75% of my posts have 1 of 2 themes...
I'm either complaining about a body part hurting (either from a new injury or pushing an old one too far), or it's got to do with computers. :p
Either eeepc or 701 would have led you in that direction
Essentially I got to profit from someone's lack of computer experience and got a 2nd laptop with nothing wrong with it, for $40-50 cheaper than had he spent an hour reinstalling the system and selling it as a working laptop.
I just got to cheat on this end with a recovery image and do it in 20min.

Oh yeah. Being able to fix things yourself can land you some serious scores. I ride a Goped to work in the summer (gas prices, but its fun too:D) and got a $40 dollar Carberator for free from someone in the neighborhood because "it doesnt work". Cleaned it, got a new fuel inlet stem, linkage, and return spring and I'll be good to go. should add another 3 mph on the top end and much better acceration.

I hear what you are saying. Here's what came in the mail today.

The Ebay description:
"You are bidding on a used Spyderco Knife. The blade is 2 3/4" long and the entire knife when opened is 7". The knife has a built in pocket clip. There is some rust on the blade but could probably be cleaned up. The blade is partially serated. Great knife."
Yep, it IS a great knife. About 30 seconds work on the blade with a brass-bristled brush and a couple of drops of mineral oil on the hinge and a good wipedown, and Voila! A like new 1st gen Delica with the plastic clip. The only bad thing about the knife is a few dings on the blade, like it was hit with something.
Not bad for $6.55, $10.50 total with the shipping.:D
Oh yeah. It's sharp as a razor too.
