Samo and everyone,

Yesterday I received my two blue Photons. "El Hombre" was fascinated at how much light comes out of the little thing! I put mine on the chain along with the Mini-Police necklace, and it makes a good duo (while I get a Ladybug and/or a Jester). Krazie, it seems that the chain can hold much and it still feels comfortable.

I ordered another Photon yesterday, a II with red light. I am sure this one will go very well with a red Ladybug.

Good Morning Kahz,

Glad to hear you and "your man" are enjoying your Photons. I've always carried a SureFire 9Z which is extremely bright but also much larger than any of the LED/Photon lights that fit on a keychain. I've been wanting to get a keychain-sized light for some time. The Maglites I have still seem to be too large for what I'm looking for and, after doing some research on that flashlight forum that a fellow forumite recommended, it looks like I'll also be getting a couple of Photon 3's for me and my other half.

It seems like they would make an excellent match with a couple of Jesters. BTW, the Jester is available in Fuscia, Lime Green, and, of course, black.

Hey Kahz!
WOW! AWESOME! Those lil lights are definitely putting the shine in you and the El Hombre's life! Really cool pairing! I gave my vahenee a diamond white photon! She loved it! Then a coupla days later, she got another keychain light from CMG courtesy of a knife dealer from Hong Kong.. What a lucky girl! I'm thinking of getting a surefire E-2 for her birthday..

I dont know,Maby these lights would be good for playing around and for checking out things really small like Working on Chainsaw's and maby Engines.

I just would find it hard to replace my M-2 with one of these,This M-2 tucks away right in the Combat Holster and this proton light thing would have to be very bright to replace any surefire,But thats just me,A surefire Freak.

Agreed, Tom B.

I have yet to find anything brighter than a SureFire that wasn't attached to the front-end of an automobile.

Maybe I'll get a smaller SureFire, instead.

Hey guys!

SureFire is my goal... wow, I have so many goals in life nowadays. So, my dear Larry, spill the beans... HOW did you get the Spyderlogo to appear like that???? I wanna know!! Just with "img src"? You tease! Jester, that will have to be lime green once I get it. I have a thing for limes.

Samo, I still think _you are the man_, I love this neck combo! The manslave is having fun with his, what a cool gift!!!!

Tool, I have a MagLite and I am not replacing it with these. The cool thing about Photons, you can hang them around your neck and you don't even feel them there! I am ordering two lanyards just for the fun of carrying more stuff around my neck. Try one, they are very inexpensive, so it's not like you have to break the bank for a trial! Yay!

In responce to the effective brightness of the photon light.I use one every night to check in the trucks at work and while not as bright as a full size light it is plenty bright enough.I would have no problems walking in the woods in the dark with one.

I really like my Turquoise Photon light, it is an awesome companion for my Ladybug. I just got the regular style, but I hope to expand to a blue or white Photon 3 in the NEAR future. Heh heh! I just love pulling it out of my pocket and shining it right behind someone. Even in broad daylight, it gives off a nice glow. I've owned 3 Photon IIs and 2 Photon IIIs, 4 whites and 1 red. They're are great little lights. Stick 'em on a keychain and you never know it's there.

I like the IIIs over the IIs mostly because they're water-tight. But I think the inclusion of the little microprocessor on the IIIs have made them a bit too complicated to control with only 2 momentary switches.

I've bought all of mine from botachtactical.com. They have great prices on Photons. I've recently read some rather bad horror stories about them and stuff that isn't in stock, but each time, I've ordered Photons, they've had them in stock. YMMV.

I love my photons. I normally carry three with me all the time:

- red Photon I on ring with house keys
- green Photon II on ring with car keys
- white Photon II attached to the end of a Ladybug II in my pocket

All of my local family (parents, great aunt and uncle, couple pairs of aunts and uncles) carry at least one or two with them also. The white Photon II is by far the favorite, with the green II and the yellow I running second and third.

Well Carlos,

I must admit that I also like the ARC LE because of it's size and use of the common AAA battery. I'm still trying to arrange a side by side comparison on which is brighter, etc. But in either case, I'll be sure to pair it up with my Jester upon arrival.

For those who are interested, Massad Ayoob has a horizontal belt carry method for the SureFire flashlights. I carry a 6P and everytime I have used it on a BG it has done it's job well. Those little flashlights are great (I carry two) but not when in a bad situation. Remember most encounters with a BG are in low-light which is why you should have a good source of light. The SureFire may be all you need rather then reaching for your Spydie.

Thanks for the info, J Smith.

I look forward to hearing more about your /Photon combo.

Hi Samo,

Yup, the ARC LE seems to be the "hottest" mini light right now. I've done some pricing research and found them for $19.95 + shipping.

The ARC LS is the next generation mini light which is suppose to be much brighter because it uses the Luxeon Star LED which is what the LS stands for. A 5 watt LED, go figure. The downside is that they are backordered until April. BTW, the ARC LE is waterproof to 10ft., the LS is waterproof to 50ft. Both have a 10yr warranty.

I noticed a Swiss Army knife with a built in Photon light was available. Any chance the Wizards of Golden may bring back a with a built in light? Carlos? Sal? I think the old model was called a Firefly(?).
