Have finally decided to add a new Spidie to my family.. I mean collection. Have narrowed it down to Two.. First the Fred Perrin Street bowie (drooling ala Homer Simpson.. sweet sweet fixed blade) Or James Keatings Chinook... (bowie style blade...Insert more drool stains here) Kinda wanted to cull the Fans for opinions. Thanks guys

Good Morning Chambers,
Both are excellent knives. What is your intended use? This would help in determining a recommendation.
Get both! <img src="tongue.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> <img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

*Grinning* Intended use? I intend to play with it of course. Honestly I will likely rotate either in and out of my daily carry. The Chinook would come really close to replacing my Commander (to use a phraise I heard in here recently, I'm a wave slut) for daily all around useful knife with great secondary MBC applications. The Perrin. Ok it's by Perrin what else is there? Would likely be the "big" blade I carry. (I try to go one swiss army folder for little stuff, one large folder for serious stuff and a fixed blade for Extra serious stuff) I don't really need another knife for either purpose but hey we're talking Spyderco here.
Please bear in mind when I wrote this I was waiting for the Nyquill to kick in.

Well, in that case, get <b>both </b> ! <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>
Now the next question is, of course, which one to buy first! <img src="tongue.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

I have both.
While I like the Chinook, I don't find that I carry it too much. It's an awesomely built knife, but far too big for an EDC for my purposes.
The Perrin Street Bowie is a different beast altogether. At first, after seeing pics of it, I didn't think much of it, but after picking it up for the first time, it felt like it was made for my hand. It's light, slim, tho fairly long, aroudn 10" OAL. It's an awesome knife. It's become an additional EDC since I got it, tho I probably should look into the legality issues of that.
Ultimately, you can't go wrong with either.

Well, it's not a wave, but the extra large (14.5mm) spyderhole on the Chinook is a real treat.
Re: Perrin - A 5 inch knife is great in the kitchen and in the camp, but otherwise, I can't imagine carrying that much steel on a regular basis.

Kahz,
You're incorrigable. You always tell everybody to get both. I think you must be on the <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>Co payroll<img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>. I think it's more fun to get one at a time<img src="tongue.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>.

Weekend yet?
