any one know if there are any pronounced differences btw the regular wegner, the blade-tech wegner, and the custom wegner? they seem to be completely differently made

Hey dude ~ Welcome aboard!
The Wegner (both large and jr) are well-made folders. They are loved and revered by many game hunters... Spyderco produced them in batches. The knife has recently been discontinued but it can still be found on-line.. The Spyderco Wegner is still being sold on www.blade-tech.com at a retail price of US$89.95 (what a good deal!)
The custom Wegners, only sold exclusively at Blade-Tech, are treated well with BG-42 steel with titanium scales.. The knives are made by Phil Boguszewski.. Asking price for both right and left handed models are from US$395.95 You can also find a fixed blade Wegner made by Rob Simonich at the same price.. I wish would produce a custom-collaborated fixed blade Wegner someday..

Yes, those custom Wegner designs must be some beautifully made knives because I can't imagine a much more nicely manufactured piece than the Spyderco Wegners. They are something else...my vision of "the strong, silent type" in knives.
