Hey, I was now looking to get a military and was wondering what you guys' opinions of it were. My friend has one and I just can't figure out if I really like it enough to drop a hundred bucks.

I want one with full serrations, but the serrations don't go to the tip and I don't know if I trust that liner lock yet. Let me know what you guys think.

I've had my current Military for over a year now, it's my everyday carry. This may be the greatest knife in the history of man.

When I first saw one in '95 or '96 I thought, "What an ugly knife." I got one anyway, but only owned it for a very short time, and didn't give it a chance before I traded it for something else.

About a year and a half ago, I wanted a more substantial knife for carry at work. By then I was a die hard Spyderco guy, so I gave the Military another try. Wow! What a dope I was to get rid of it in the first place. This knife does everything well and achieves the nearly impossible combination of rock solid AND light as a feather.

I used to buy knives all the time. I'd get one, and soon another would catch my fancy. Since I got my Military, I don't look around anymore. It must be love.

Through my time on the forums, I've heard people bash about every linerlock on Earth except Spyderco's. That definitely says something for the quality involved! <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

Keepin' it real...real sharp, that is.

The plain edge portion on the front end of the serrated blade of the Military is great, and I find that it comes in very handy. There is no reason for concern with the nested linerlock on the Military. It truly is a particularly good design, combining light weight and extreme durability. Get one, you won't be sorry. Drop the money for it. It's well worth it..a purchase you won't ever regret making...If you carry only one knife make it the Military...

Medic2110,

I assume this means that you have acquired a military? If so, congratulations.

An awsome knife, I only wish I could carry it more often.

One of the strongest liner locks out there.

Is that a <img src="http://spyderco.com/forum/spyder.gif"border=0> in your pocket, or are you just glad to see me ?

Hear so much good stuff about it I wish I had one, but if I got one I would want it in VG-10 Steel &lt;img src=&quot;http://kraziekurtis.50megs.com/drool.gif&quot;&gt;

I really like mine, and find that it is slipping into my back pocket more and more often these days.

Here is a .. uh .. interesting review:

The Military is one heck of a knife!

It is very light with great gripping G-10 scales (handles). It's also big.

When you need a right sized knife, this is the one.

Even though some people might be surprised or even upset by the size of the blade, it is my everyday carry.

I also carry other Spyderco knives in rotation. During the summertime, I carry the Spyderench a lot. Right now I've been adding the Bob Lum Chinese Folder and the Lil Temperance as my other carries.

One way or the other, you pay for your tools!

sorry but i'm gonna have to disagree here, i'm in a kinda love/hate relationship with my millie, of all my knifes i've acidentally cut myself with this one the most, and its been plagued wityh problems of the screws coming loose and on one occasion falling out. i find it really hard to sharpen on the 204, or rather sharpen WITH the last mm of the tip intact. on the other hand it feels soooo good...

Sooo, if I were to get one, should I go for the model with CPM-440V or ATS-34? I heard a lot of good by both models, and I really think I'd prefer the CPM, but what do you all think?

Thanks!

I think everyone should have at least one Military. I currently have four, and if I'm ever a lucky dog, number five will be the elusive Black Millie. If you just want one for a daily user, I'd go with one of the newer CPM-440V models. For a large EDC it is much slicker than the ATS-34 models, at least in my experience. I'd have to agree with tortoise. I just love this knife.

Get the one in CPM440V...

It is one of my favorite knives we offer in the current line up. Get the CPM440V model....better steel IMHO. Great action, G-10 handle, great steel, how could ya go wrong?! <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

Why the Military ROCKS:
1. Flat grind, most other manf. don't even have one in their whole line.
2.Honking big handle, that does not feel big or heavy in your pocket.
3. Large Spyderhole, this in combination with
handle allows you to open it with gloves on. I wish ALL my Sydies had this size hole, your thumb does not slide off, like mine do on the smaller ones, once in awille.
4.Postive blade cant and lot's belly makes it easy to use, and a better cutting tool.
5.Overall the best ergonomic's in any folder
I have held.

I picked up a new Millie a few months ago because the price was very right,(~$74 for G10, 440V) and I figured I could easily swap it. However, just the other day it found its way into my pocket and, damn, that is one sweet knife. I like the ergonomics, the blade design, the nested liner lock, the edge holding...so now it's my new EDC. Sorry, it's not for trade any more; it's a real keeper. I'm converted.

Blade Santa Cruz,

You're right, $74 bucks is a steal!<img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> Does the place that you got have any more in stock? I have been waiting for a good price to show up on the Millie. This is the best I've seen so far.

Cheers!

Sorry, they had a few Millies and Police models that they were clearing out at that price, take your pick. All gone now. <img src="sad.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

I have one in CPM-440V and mine seems perfect in execution. THe liner engages perfectly to the left and takes a bit of effort to unlock ( a good thing). The flat-ground blade is like a razor. I have not yet had to sharpen a 440V blade so I can't comment on how difficult a touch-up would be, though.

For such a big knife it's very comfortable and awesome as a cutter. If you get one you will not be sorry.

Above this post a little ways is an address for a &quot;review&quot; of the Military. I just finished it, and while it doesn't say much, it's quite funny while it says it!
