Hi guys, thing that really sucks about financial crysis is that when student is finding part-time job it´s really hard and almost impossible to get some...

I´ve been looking for some job for three months because I´ve had to pay for school. After three months without job I´ve had to borow some money from bank but it was just one third of whole amount. Where to get more??? Bang!!! Only valueable thing was my collection of spydies... spydies sold, two thirds of total amount for school paid. Now I have job in my school where I´will get enough money for paying school and debt in bank - after ten months. But without spydies I feel somehow bad, sad, down... I know, there are people in worst situation but this somehow broke me down, not just because of putting my knives away, it´s because I´ve put away part of myself, six years of collecting and care about my little treasure.

Sorry if this post is annoying someone. I just felt bad so wanted to share with someone who might know how I feel.

I don't feel so bad about selling because I retain the experience of having and using them. I don't anticipate selling all of mine, but I have limited funds and must sell some in order to buy others.

Congratulations for having a long-term perspective. You are leveraging the value of your collection into the permanent benefit of education, which in turn will increase your earning power so that at a future date you can reacquire the ones you miss the most.

edit - At one time I had a collection of drum sets with at least one from every decade of the twentieth century. I had to sell them all, later built a smaller collection and then had to sell that. From all that experience I am now completely satisfied with a single kit, my 60's Slingerland Red Satin Flames.

I've never sold all my Spydies, but I did have a financial crunch a few years back. I sold 5 or 6 Spydies, some Cold Steel knives, and a Benchmade Ares. I wish that I had all of them back.

I've got about 55 Spydies now and I would sell them if I absolutely had to have money to keep a roof over our heads, but it would be a last resort. It hurt too much the first time!

I've pretty much sold all mine now, only have a D-2 Para and my Bob-T slipit left, the Para may go pretty soon too. The Bob T I don't think I will ever sell.

I've been leaning towards collecting and carrying traditional slipjoint patterns lately, so I'm thinking about selling some of my Spydercos to help fund more Cases and GECs... but I have no intentions of selling off everything.

For the OP... school comes first. More education means better, higher-paying jobs, meaning more money for knives in the long run, if not just right now. Selling them was a good investment in the future.

Yes but only the ones that I was dissapointed with after seeing it, that was my Persian, simply couldn't take to that blade never could get used to that blade shape, but you know what they say another Man's meat is another Man's poision.

I've not had to sell all of my knives but I've really pretty much sold the cream of the crop, so to speak. The ones like my Blue Lum, Ti ATR, BG42 Millie. etc. ,

Same with my other knives like M2 Benchmades, S90V Microtech, Cuda Maxx, etc.

It sucks, but it's better than starving.

Thanks guys for your reactions. I too think, that education is valuable for me, because of that I did it. Well I don´t feel so bad now. Thanks a lot.

+1 :(

p.jester84 - I'm right there with you Brother.... :(

I'm photographing 12 out of my meager Spydie collection [as I type this response] to basicly give away on feebay. I'm a service connected disabled Vet & haven't been able to find a job anywhere.

When times were good & I had the capital, I'd pick up what I could afford for my addiction....., but now, things are pretty bad & a guy's gotta eat. Right?

I wasn't buying to re-sell down the road for a profit, but wanted to have something [of any value] to pass on to my Son when the time comes that I must leave this planet. When I first saw [& later purchased] my 1st Spyderco knife, I knew this company was going to be something BIG at a later date!

Here it is, almost 20 yrs later & whadaya know.... I WAS RIGHT!!!! :D :D :D

P.Jester, be happy that you're fueling your future earning potential by selling your collection, & don't forget to make a list of the knives that you've had to sell, so that you can replace them down the road. ;)

D2 :)

The brighter side -- by being educated formally, your chances of getting back the treasure increase dramatically. I appreciate the fact that you chose education over the spydies, which will go a long way into building a very good life for you. This experience will also make you strong to face real-life crunches, especially the loss of something that you love/cherish the most.

Good luck and best wishes for your education.

Trust me.. You won't regret it. One of the greatest regrets in life I've had was to not get a college education. I'm now in my mid 30's juggling a job, family and getting that diploma I've always wanted. You're better off doing it right the first time.
