Leaving Cleveland for an opportunity to play with Wade and Bosh is one thing. Setting up an hour long interview just to tell everyone is a slap in the face to his fans in Cleveland. I really think what he just did was in absolute poor taste. Anyone else have any thoughts on this one?

For the record I live in Boston. Born and raised a Celtics fan so I'm saying this from an outsiders perspective. I am honestly embarrassed for Cavs fans and just disgusted with his sense of importance.

agreed but ESPN should take alot of the blame for airing this show as well.

espn is nothing more than a sports news whore-

they have been going down hill for a few years-this is just another example-

a 1 hour show about a free agent player is a total joke-when he gets to pick who interviews him it shows just that

they are more of a press outlet than a sports reporting station-

Just like all other major "news" outfits, rosconey.

Biggest scumbag in sports history? He has some stiff competition, man :D

That said, he definitely is a prime example of a rich D-bag and his fevered ego making far more impact than his talent and sportsmanship do.

As an avid LA Lakers fan (since 1969) I'm sad to say that I'm seeing all the major league sports turn into a sick version of Monty Hall's "LET'S MAKE A DEAL". There is just no loyalty at all anymore on either end of the spectrum. But Lebron showed us with no shred of a doubt that he is all for him and to hell with anyone else.

The Cleveland Cavaliers took him right out of high school into the NBA and made him an extremely wealthy man at a very young age as did the LA Lakers with Kobe Bryant. But unlike Mr. James at least Kobe shows some appreciation for what his team has done for him.

I really lost much of my love for Lebron James last year ( 2009) when he lost his bid for the NBA finals and refused to shake his opponents hand>> of which he got a collosal fine from Commissioner Stern. He has truly showed his rear end in a far worse way in this recent debacle. I can't believe Dywayne Wade would even want to be teammates with a guy this selfish

Well on to the Brett Farve soap opera :D

I come from a long generation of sport haters.

So I have nothing to worry about.

The whole thing is a farce. And the fact that this is headline material is just sad. We have a war going on, the oil is still gushing into the Gulf, the economy is still in the crapper and this is news?

Alex Jones on this Topic. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3B_xBWsDpz0)

This is pretty much 100% how I feel.

Who?
And why is this important?

I assume some sportsman has moved teams.

So.

It happens, and it goes like this;
1. Contract ends.
2. Another team offers more money.
3. Player moves teams.
4. World fails to end.

This was big news on the same day that it was announced that NIAIA scientists have discovered a breakthrough that leads to a way of curing 90% of AIDs cases.

Why do we care about this? Doesn't everyone know the NBA games are rigged.

From what I hear about the guy he seems to be a pretty good dude.

James kept his contract with the Cavalier and was a great player for them. His contract ended and he took a job somewhere else. They had a mutually beneficial relationship. Unless one side break a promise to other what's the big deal? Heck, he's 25 years old, why not leave home (Cleveland) and live somewhere else?

ESPN saw an opportunity to get some viewers. James saw an opportunity to have ESPN give money to Boys and Girls Clubs.

Well everyone is entitled to their opinions. I see nothing wrong with him leaving. It's just the fact that he held an hour long press conference to do so. Tune in to ESPN at 9 on thursday to find out that I'm going to Miami is a bit narcissistic IMO.

To me this would have been just as bad if Favre did the same thing when he went to the Vikings.

It's a fair point to say that there are more pressing matters around the globe. It's all a matter of perspective and personal choice. Of course it's not even close to being as important as the BP oil leak or having troops over seas. There are also much better things we could be doing than spending hundreds on knives and posting here. Yet here we are because we all made the choice to do so.

The problem is that fans have huge and unwavering loyalty to their team ... but sometimes they assume that the players also share this loyalty. Some might but to most sports stars these days it's all just a career and a job - if they get offered a better deal then they'd change side in the blink of an eye ... it's all just business behind all the hype.

Given the fact that he was playing in his hometown (or near it at least Akron), the way this went down was in poor taste. And I will hazard a guess he will regret it at some point.

With all the sports figures engaging in criminal behavior, some of it very serious, I just could not find any energy to get legitimately bothered over the whole affair. He and ESPN are joined at the hip in the cult of personality surrounding many pro athletes and I've long since forgotten a time when that wasn't the case. It'd be news to me if ESPN didn't have the hype and fawning.

Biggest s-bag in the history of sports..well I don't know about that cause I'm not a sports fan...but I will tell you this...when I was 12 yrs old. My friend and I saw Mickey Mantle in the Plaza Hotel (NYC) lobby and asked for his autograph, he kicked my friend in the shins, pushed him, knocked him to the ground and spit on me...all we did was ask politely for an autograph...as a kid I was..well...lets put it this way...I never watched another baseball game again...FWIW as an adult I realized he was drunk...Now as far as this title thread goes...LBJ might have switched teams, and made an hour broadcast to let his disappointed fans know....he didn't cut anyone up, or kill anyone (like OJ) did he?.....Doc:D

He lost a lot of fans here in Clevo. Business decisions are just that I have no issues if he leaves to win. The spectacle he made of it and the way it went down was pretty uncool.

I personally thought that it was pretty sad for the kids in the Boys and Girls Club who were sitting around them during the announcement. They let out a gasp and several appeared to be in shock and crying. He was probably the biggest thing in their short lives and now he was to abandon them.

I guess that it was a good lesson in life not to worship sports heroes!

I really believe that this whole thing was the people around him who he was taking advice from on how to do the announcement. Pretty bad advice.

Lebron James could buy every Boys & Girls club in America; why doesn't he donate some of his own money? He is without a doubt the biggest narcissist I have seen but other than being a jerk he did nothing wrong.

maybe in ohio he is -
in syracuse its greggy boy robinson- he single handedly ruined syracuse football while he was here-

this scumbag took a million a year for a average of 2 wins a year, none against teams with winning records-

just remember cleveland fans-another winner will come -we now have marrone-maybe you will be the first to win it all with a team of players not a single super star

i dont think your right. im no expert but if he wins a championship next year he will be rolling in dough. money is made, not from nba, but from everything else. sponsorship will triple overnight. he wants to win it all. thats why he left. he cant do it in ohio.
but either way i dont really care. another rich **Edited** who will just throw his millions in the pile...

At first I didn't think his announcement was that bad, but after watching the fallout in the media and his behavior following the ESPN special, I'm starting to see why people think he's an **Edited**.

It's just a game.......and he's just a man.

I have no idea why everyone has their panties in a bunch about this man and a game.
