how does Spyderco "engrave" the S/N's onto their blades? I was thinking about having a knife customized with a logo, and would like for it to look similar to a factory job, if possible.
Thanks!

Older models were done using a "diamond drag" engraving. Now we use a laser to engrave on the blades with. Hope this helps!

There have been many numbering styles including these two. I've also heard that one was numbered on the top spine of the blade.

Blades,
I have had many knives engraved at . The Laser Engraving is black and really stands out. Many of my customers want their agency logo on the SS or Titanium handle and their name and/or section on the blade. I even had one female K-9 handler request that her nick-name be engraved on the blade. The factory almost didn't want to do it. Her nick-name is "Queen B*tch"

Do other commercial companies have these laser machines? I mean other than Knife manufacturers...
How in the world would you find someone to do just one blade? The yellow pages?

chinook,
The FB04 (Fred Perrin Street Bowie) is engraved on the spine using the laser. Looks great!

Linda,
Could you get the factory to do a laser engraved spider and web on the stainless Police With my name on the clip side? If it's possible we need to talk.

Raden,
Anything is possible, it just depends on what you want to spend. You have email.
