For tip up carry I would go with the Mouse or Dragonfly. For tip down Navigator or cricket.I prefer tip up myself.

Whether you start out with the Dragonfly, Mouse, Navigator or something a little bigger like the Native or Delica, you can't make a wrong decision, they are all Spydies.
Just consider what you will be using the knife for, whether you want tip-up or tip-down carry, LtWt. or Stainless Steel, etc..
Survive, Adapt, and Overcome...

The Meerkat is a good start! Its affordable and highly practical as a small field knife! <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0><img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0><img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

have surgical scars will travel..
WHY DONT I SEE THE MOUSE ON THE WEB CATALOG? WHAT IS IT? THIS SOUNDS STUPID BUT WHAT'S THE DEAL TIP UP VS. TIP DOWN?
IMO, you can't go wrong with a Delica as a first Spyder. It was my first and always will be a fave...

Tip-up and tip-down is just dealing with the placement of the clip and whether the tip is down in the pocket, or up in the pocket.
To see a Mouse go here: <a href="http://www.blade-tech.com">Blade-Tech</a>
I say for starters though, get a Dragonfly. <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

I recommend the AM Naviagator. I have the new VG-10 version in <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>edge. This is my EDC, and will handle most anything I could ask of a knife in this size range! I especially like the way the slots help the clip hold it firm in the pocket, it what go anywhere until you whip it out. Welcome to the board! RKBA!

For a small EDC, I would highly recommend the Mouse. Great steel in VG-10, excellent grip, and a size that fits anywhere, yet is awesomely useful.
Keepin' it real...real sharp, that is.
Thanks for the response, Hey what does anyone think of the discontinued Calypso Jr. A friend at work has one and likes it. Good website, Good people, Thank You

The Calypso Jr. is an awesome knife and has a great following here among the forumites. I own a Micarta and lwt version.
You'll absolutely love this knife! Do a search on this forum and read some of the excellent threads on this wonderful knife.

SB4 :
I have the earlier Calypso Jr. w/micarta
scales (BM). A great little knife! If you can
find one, I'd recommend it for EDC.

Killer input, I hope I am not out of line here but check out Botach.com in the clearance section. Tim Wegners for 49.00 or 59.00, Calypso Jr's for under 30.00. They were also selling Ayoobs, plus others not on clearance. Have dealt with Botach before, great company.
