Vg-10 is, in my opinion, a "Super Steel".
It takes a great edge, allowing a fine angle(currently I have my Calypso Jr Lt(discontinued, c52pbk) down to about 20degrees.
I run my Delica as my beater, at 40degrees, and have yet to destroy that edge.
With the FRN models(the black, plastic feeling stuff)you can change the clip from right to left carry.
To clean the handle, there are a couple options:
1> HOT/soapy tap water, then blowdryer
2> air compressor
3> cloth/picks
I pesonally use methods 2 and 3.
Oil choices: Find something to protect the balde suitable to it's use. I find Mineral Oil is great. I use my knive for eating as well as daily use. If I wasn't eating with it, I'd probably find Tuff-cloth or WhiteLighting.
For oiling the pivot: Put ONLY a couple drops in, and work it in. Use a kleenex or the like for wiping he junk off the blade as it comes out. I also put a drop on the lock workings.
VG-10 is not a stainproof steel, and after use around saltwater you should wipe it off well. Allow to dry fully before putting away.

VG-10 is an absolutely awesome steel to work with. Every time you think it's dull, it will still be able to shave hair, the edge retention is that good.
The clip can be reversed, by using a quarter to loosen the screw. Old user's tip: to keep the clip from rotating and gouging the FRN, flip over the bolt when you put it in. That puts the spacer on the opposite side from the clip, and allows the clip to sit a touch deeper.
Oil is a personal preference. I like a drop of Turbo Oil or Zoom Lube to get things going, but some people will swear by Balistol or 3 in 1. It all depends on if you eat with your knife or not.
To protect the blade, use a Sentry TufCloth to wipe the blade down periodically. Again, if you eat with the knife, don't do this. Use a food-grade oil and clean the knife reqularly.
Keepin' it real...real sharp, that is.
