Look this is a very odd question to post on the spyderco forum but I am looking for a very very very good survival knife.Only fixed blades are competing here. I made a list of knives that seem very good to me.I will post them all and you guys can make a choice(since you all probably know a lot more about these things than I do)OK?

Here goes...

Gerber BMF

Gerber LMF

Timberline Specwar

Timberline Specwar Aviator

SOG government agent

SOG Seal Team 2000

SOG Seal Pup

Hill Special operations knife

Hill KCT002-1 or KCT002-2

SOG RECON bowie

Camillus Pilots survival knife with the leather and steel sheath

And there's one other thing...Do Any of you guys know where I can find a case V-42 combat knife? A website or something like that....

Thx in advance

Sincerely,

Kim

I assume you mean a reproduction V-42, which can be found at:
http://www.allmilitaria.com/bladesl.html
for around $120.

An original Case, in not too good condition, sold for $1925.00 at
http://cutlerscove.com/daggers/case-v-42.htm

Hi there,
from your list, I don´t know the Hill brand knives. The SOG ones may be ok designs, but I don´t like stainless fixed blade knives very much. With minimal care, a simple carbon steel blade gives much more performance than, say AUS-6 or other stainless steels (except some powder metallurgical ones which are very expensive).
So I´d probably take the SOG Recon Bowie (carbon blade, seems to have a useable blade grind; probably VERY expensive in Europe), but if price is considered, I´d buy a couple of Camillus Pilot survival (also low alloy carbon steel I think).
If you shop around (I´d recommend bladeforums.com), you can find custom knifemakers who will make you a forged 52100 basic working/"survival" knife for under USD 200, maybe even USD 150. Fit and finish might not be on par with a top notch custom blade, but the design should be a good user.
In Europe, I had good buys from G&#252;nther B&#246;hlke http://www.boehlke-messer.de/ and Kevin Wilkins http://www.wilkins-knives.com/ (the Ring Thorn on the title page is mine <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> ). Hope that helps. Happy shopping.

I'd also take a serious look at the Perrin Street Bowie. It's not serrated, but it is very sturdy, well-balanced, and would be good for cutting brush and clearing a campsite. Keep a good utility edge on it and serrations wouldn't be necessary.
