I cant seem to get my delica sharp as other spydeys i own.im talking ATS-55.. what am i doing wrong with this steel? not i dont have a sharpmaker yet..but have tried several other ceramic type sharpners..do yall think the factory edge is a bit shallow? was thinking of trying to go flater

Most <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>s are sharpened at 30 degrees inclusive from the factory, thus enabling you to hone it at 40 without rebeveling.
Try sharpening it at about 40 degrees inclusive. If that doesn't work, go to 30.
Keepin' it real...real sharp, that is.

Buying myself 1 for my birthday sam. I did drop the angle down to about 40 and it feels sharper. maybe its the diffferent grain size in the ats-55. thx ron

I run my Delica as a 'beater' sharpened at 40degrees. ATS-55/FRN, had it for 3 yrs this august.
I just finally had to put a 30 then back to a 40 this weekend, got to that point.
I find the ats-55 runs well at 40degrees, and have yet to do more than scratch the steel on this puppy.

First of all, if/when you get a 204, your problems will be solved.<img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>
Secondly, as has been mentioned in earlier posts, for a sharp, durable edge, sharpen your Delica at the 40 degree angle.
