Just got my new G-10 Police PE today, like at 9:30 in the morning (considering I was going to sleep till noon, the phone call was unexpected).
This would be my second choice for a knife that could also be used to target pressure points (the Gunting being the first, of course). The butt protrudes beyond the back of the hand when holding the closed knife comfortably in the hand, allowing for the closed knife to be jabbed into pressure points. Not as precise a point as the cusps on the Gunting, but in some cases that's a good thing.
The heft of the knife is a little heavier than most of my lightweights, but it's nothing incredibly heavy, like I'm imagining, say, the Chinook would be. Just the right heft for the various uses, but it's definitely too handle-heavy to throw, should you ever want to try.
The blade on mine is full flat grind, without the swedge on the front. The blade is slim, long, and decently sharp (just gimme a chance on the 204, and it'll be scary). The ATS-55 looks better than I thought it would from some of the pictures. It has a nice polish on it that approaches VG-10 (not quite though). I can't say how well it stands up to abuse, since I haven't abused it yet.
The biggest problem I have with it is that the clip is placed and shaped such that it's hard to find a comfortable AND secure grip. The G-10 and overall handle shape lend themselves well to a good grip, but the clip falls at somewhat of an odd place, and it's either on or off, no ambidextrous about it.
All in all, it's all I was hoping the Endura would be when I got it. The Endura's blade is heftier and stronger, and would do better for extra-heavy-duty jobs, but for what I use a large folder for, the Police is a great knife with a long future in my pocket or waistband.
Wise man say, forgiveness is divine. Remember that when your <img src="http://www.spyderco.com/forum/spyder.gif" border=0> bites you!
