Hi Folks,

I traded my 50/50 VG-10 Delica for a plain edged, VG-10 version on the weekend. Man, do I ever like this knife.

I had one at Christmas time, along with the 50/50 Model I had received, but traded it away. I was kind of waiting to find a blue, plain edged one but finally got tired of waiting for my local shop to get one in, so went ahead and traded into the black one. I find this model to be the epitome of practical, effective and comfortable function in a small knife. I adore many other models, but there is something about the design of the lightweight Delica that has intrigued me for a long time and appeals to me in terms of it’s relatively low cost, high performance style.

Last evening during a multi-model fondling session, I noticed that the nicely finished pocket clip from my Native will fit the Delica so I swapped them, as my Native is simply a work knife and resides in a pocket most of the time. I find the high gloss, almost “blued steel’ appearance of the Native clip really complements the Delica. The plain edge VG-10 blade stays brutally sharp and is adept at cutting all kinds of stuff. It’s my new favorite Delica style, edging out the 50/50 design. As well, the action on this plain edge is smoother than was that of my 50/50, offering an effortless “flickopen” and approaching the much desired “drop close” effect I prefer in a Spyderco folder.

I’m a flickin’ and a grinnin’!

The Delica is the knife my son has picked for his first Spyderco. He has played with all my Spyderco's, checking out the way they open and close, and how they feel in his hand, and the Delica is the one he picked. I've carried a Delica for a few years now, my present Delica is a plain edge SS model.

It wasn't until I received a Delica that I've included a Spydie in my EDC rotation. I found the Goddard and the Endura a little too 'big' for the people at work. The Delica is my favorite knife(got 2-PE and 1-SE Delicas). Can't wait for the Spyderweb engraved Delicas to come from glasshart!!!

Yes, they (Delica's) sure have a certain appeal. I guess perhaps I'd better think about buying that S/S plain edge that my local gunshop has sitting in their display case, for "dress up" Delica days...

There really is no cure for this Spydervirus thing, is there?

I still want to send my SS Delica off to be jeweled. One of these days.

I've been thinking the same Blades. I think I have a jeweling mandrel in my gun stuff somewhere. I think I may try it. Can't decide which Spydie. But since the Calypso Jr II is discontinued I guess the Delica would get the call. Since she's brand new I guess I will think on it for a while and maybe practice on some scrap SS. Glad the idea is not only mine.
