These are two very different sized knives.
Blade length - Endura 3 15/16 inches / Scallion 2 1/4 inches
Closed length (handle size) - Endura 4 15/16 inches / Scallion 3 1/4 inches
I would think that the decision could be based on which knife has the size that would best satisfy the use you want to put it to.
Another consideration should also be the blade steel. The Scallion has 420 high carbon while the Endura has, in my opinion, (and many others) the much superior ATS-55 or VG-!)
If you want a knife closer to the Scallions size, take a look at some of the other Spyderco models such as Dragonfly, Delica, Salsa, Meercat or others

I like Ken Onion's knives, especially the Chive. It would be quite difficult for me to choose between Endura or Scallion... I'd flip a coin... or take them both<img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>
BTW: I understood you carry 4 (four) knives! Isn't it too heavy? Besides, you can't use more than two at one time. (they aren't throwing knives, are they?)

Dialex> He's not alone in multi-carry. I tend to carry 6! The smallest I can go without feeling naked(as I do feel all day at school) is 4.
Multitool(right hip)
Fixed blade(right hip)
Dragonfly(IWB/Right)
Calypso Jr lt(right/front)
also carry
Delica(left/front), Cricket(outside belt/left/front), smaller multitool(left pocket)
I don't even notice the weight for my carry. I even use all but the smaller multitool during the day.

KP - I really like the way the Scallion opens. But I agree - either select by size or carry both. Rico

I think that they would make good compliments for each other.
If possible I would keep both, if not I would go with the Endura for the superior steel and proven durability (unless you just *need* a smaller knife).

Hey knifepunk :
I'd say stick with the scallion ; but, be warned, alot of states are revising their
interpretation(s) of the Federal Switchblade
Act of 1957 to include any knife that"...opens by other mechanical means.."
and Florida is REALLY rigid when it comes to
switchblades. I hear there's been alot of trouble down here with shopowners & LEO's over knives that "might be" switches, which
is why I don't bother with'em. The Ken Onion
series with the "speed safe" technology are
quite "state of the art" and almost foolproof
but I wouldn't want to be in anyone's shoes
in the State of Florida when the LEO charged
them with "carrying a switchblade" <img src="sad.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> Under the Federal Statues, the maximum penalty is
10 yrs! NOT to say what the State of Florida
has in mind! <img src="sad.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> C.Y.A. and have fun! <img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

The delicas and enduras come out of the box with various levels of smoothness in the action. But they all seem to smooth over nicely over time. Play with it a little bit, then hit it with some Militech-1 or whatever you use. It'll really smooth out over the first couple of months.

I'd take a Spyder over the Scallion. The Spyder is more than likely a better knife, and the Scallion could cause you legal trouble. Unless you HAVE to have the smaller knife, the Endura is a better choice IMHO.
By the way, there's no trouble carrying several knives at once. I carry as many as 7 at one time, max loadout for daily carry is:
1. Leatherman Supertool(I'd be lost without this)
2. Walter Brend BTF, model 2 grind, my go to folder, beats everything I have handled to date.
3. Spyderco Delica Lwt. (VG-10) good around sheep, damn fine utility knife.
4. Brend Mod. 2 neck/boot knife... carried SOB, excellent for utility.
5. Jensen Elite Blades neck knife, awesome for utility, true custom.
6. Benchmade 31, great bali, great utility knife.
7. Victorinox Rambler, my favorite small SAK, I don't leave home without it.
I don't leave the house with out number 1, 2, 3, and 7 except under very special circumstances. I almost always have at least one of the others with me... so 5-7 knives is not an uncommon thing to me. I have been known to carry more than 7 on certain occasions and during camping/hiking trips.

In a way, you're comparing apples to oranges. The Endura is a full sized working knife and it is larger than it looks (know your state laws on blade length)! The Scallion is a cool little knife ( emphasis on little ) and functions as a great EDC, but I wouldn't trust it to alot of hard work. I would go with the Endura just because it carries better, has better steel, and is easier to open (speedsafe is cool, but if you slip while opening = nasty cuts).
Good luck with your decision,
Matt
