Hello and welcome aboard! The man in question : is Sal Glesser and his talented team of people at Golden, Colorado.
If you want to know more about the origin of Spyderco, you'll find a beautifully written biography about the company's humble beginning in a book called "The Spyderco Story" written by Kenneth Delavigne and published by Paladin Press. Hope this helps!

Hi Elwood. Welcome to the Spyderco forum.

My wife, Gail, and I started Spyderco in 1976 in Redding, California. It was a "low cost" upstart.

We began making sharpeners in 1978. We began making folding knives in 1981, starting with the Clipit "Worker" model.

We are currently located in Golden, Colorado. We have approx 60 crew.
