Hey transistor ;

I'm as "in the dark" as you are about these
new Spydies ( guess it's time to order the
2003 catalog! ) As for the symbols, they go like this :

For a smiley, ":" then " ) " =

For a wink, ";" then " ) " =

For a razzer, ":" then "P" =

For a Spydie, "}" then "{" = <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

Just don't add quotation marks or space. It
takes some T&E ( Trail & Error ) but you'll get it!

Trakk'r should be out in the fall. ParaMilitary still in prototypeing, but we're looking at the end of the year.

The plan is for a G10 scale with nested liners. Any suggestions on G10 color?

Not only pretty, but will match all of my MSU gear as well .

I've got to agree with Jeff. If ever there was a new that should be manufactured in Olive Drab it's the new Paramilitary

I think it would make sence for it to be olive drabe because there is no currant Spydies in that color. The ones that have been made in that color are now highly sought after.

Good to see you posting Sal.

I will repeat for about the 8th time on both this and on Bladeforums - Desert Tan would be a great choice for those of us "non-military" types.

It will blend in with the popular, mainstream weekend khaki pants. Olive Drab G-10 will still have a bit of an overly serious tone for me and many other weekend carriers.

Thanks for listening (reading?).

Also, glad to hear the Trakk'r is closing in on reality.

Desert Tan or Olive Drab would fit in with my clothing great! Clip the same color would be excellent, as you wouldn't have a black or silver clip standing out.

Dialex,

It needs to be put out in at least 2 colors. That way my husband won't accuse me of taking his knife when he can't find it. That's how I got started on the pink Cricket. I got pink to be able to differentiate between Shawn's and mine.

Thanx for the input. We tried olive drab
in both the Endura and Delica when they first came out. A dealer survey said they would be popular. Oh well....they bombed...the slowest selling Delica ever.

We're currently down to a dark blue (navy) or a dessert tan. We'll be making the color as a custom run (that means we have to make a bunch), so we want to be sure we've selected the right color. Whatever color we select will also find it's way into the Lil Temperance and perhaps the Military.

The blade is 3.25 inches (83mm).

Sorry Linda, no pink at this time.

Out of navy blue and tan, I would strongly prefer tan. My only concern w/ the tan would be that it was to light. I'm not sure how an off-white Paramilitary would look.

Either way, I can't wait to get my hands on one. Hopefully it's out by Christmas. Would look great under the tree.

Hello People,

Sal, sir, why not have a clear handle? I'm not very conversant with handle materials but if it's possible then maybe you could consider a clear handle with the volcano grips (or whatever grip pattern the para is scheduled to run with) and just have different colored SPYDERS. Put another way, what i mean to say is that the handle is clear and the spyder bug logo could be a rubberized thingy inserted so that it's either flush with the rest of the handle or it kind of bulges out. This bulge may even help in determining the orientation of the knife blade when it is open and for some reason you can't see the blade (in total darkness for instance). Ya i know who would opena spyderco in total darkness without running the risk of cutting one's own skin. But hey anything's possible right?
So the spyder bugs would be different colored then...

Have a nice day.

Cedric

My vote is for any dark color, be it a nice forest green, Navy, etc. I really dislike light colors, especially sand, as they tend to blur into the color of a nice steel, detracting from, rather than complementing and strengthening the appearance of the knife. IF the handle is metal, this doesn't hold as true, but in the case of woods and man-made materiels (esp. G10), I think this is the case.

Thanks for your interest, Sal! I'm curious to see the final product. It sounds like the combination of materials is absolutely first-rate, and it'll be an awesome knife.

Regards,
C.
