I posted this on the Tekno forum also, but I think more will see it here. Also posted it on BF.



As most of you (Spyderforumites) know, Spyderco is looking into fixed blade models. Sheaths are of paramount importance in a sheath knife.



Sheath design is more difficult than it appears. What I'm seeking is design that pushes the envelope in function and materials. Patent or patenability is nice, but not necessary.



Any recommendations would be appreciated.

I found a really good saddlemaker in California. All he deals in is custom leather products. I've currently own a bunch of his artwork, everything from daytimers, sheaths, gun covers, to watchbands. What about side draw sheaths? Ones that truly lock the knife in so it can't be pulled straight back or fall out, but can be easily slid out sideways.

Wait... this thread is 9yrs old.... ;)

Sal, I have one Kydex from Okuden and it's great. It is for a Swamp Rat RatManDu.

I also have several sheaths, both Kydex and leather from Rainwalker Creations. These are also top notch. The leatherwork is beautiful.

You guys are insane! I cant believe your actually posting info in a 9 year old thread. I'm pretty sure Scott Gere and a whole team of designers did the job they were looking for. But alas, maybe they still want help.
