Just picked up the numbered one. Make that one numbered 103. Pretty nice knife for the price point.
Since one of my EDCs is a Meerkat with the clip gone soft already(6 Months), I immediately thought that carrying the "Pride" would be a good idea. You gotta love Old Glory. But then I see the Made in Japan status, the "French" enamel inlay and the warning that cautions about this knife closing on your hand during use...It will go in the collection me thinks...
I don't live in a country that forbids the carry of a locking blade knife, so why should I sacrafice safety by caring this one. As to having a truely American EDC, I'll stick with the Golden Natives. It even staes which planet it was made on.
So if I want to continue to carry the Meerkat, I suppose I'll have to take the clip off of it and goof with the spring wire to get it back to gripping the pocket properly again.... You'd think it would last for years, wouldn't you?.
rico-you finally got your Pride-right?

Funny, I was just looking at Rico's post about getting the Pride knife. Creepy, eh?
103,
If you don't mind my asking, where did you purchase your Pride from? Or did it come directly from SFO itself? I know that Glasshartt can get them so I was just curious. Also, how much does it cost to sign up as a full-fledged Spyderco collecter?
So many question.....sorry.
Thanks Dude!

Costs nothing, other than a promise to purchase some knives, to join the Collector's Club. If there is an opening (200 slots total and 20 open #s last time I looked), you sign-up and sign a contract, which includes appointing a dealer through which your collector's pieces are purveyed.
My knife dealer calls every once in a while to say "Another Knife has arrived from Spyderco".Nice.
So call Joan @ Golden HQ, sign-up, and cut your best deal with an authorized dealer. You'll soon have them coming out of your ears......
well except for Forum Vesuvius Knives

I got mine today. The clear Almite is nice, I'd like to see a clear Almite Lum Chinese folder. Don't have much use for it myself, except perhaps as a travel knife. Would rather have a Puerto Rican flag too.
I'm carrying a Meerkat right now as well. So far my wire clip is holding up, but I haven't been carrying it as long -- I'll have to keep an eye on it.
Yes - Mine arrived, excellent as usual. Still waiting for my Forum Vesuvius 69 days and counting. Rico

Rico,
Does it normally take that long for collector pieces to arrive to you? I am seriously considering becoming a Spydie collector, (By number! so I was just curious as to what kind of time frame they get them to you.
BTW, I'm sorry to hear that its taken this long for the Forum Knife to get to you. Just keep the chin up, man.
Thanks!
Mike
Don't look too deep into my complaints. A large majority of the knives arrive long before the majority receives them. I personally take all variations that come out also. Don't be worried about time frames of delivery, they get there when they get there. Rico
Hey 103. The clip shouldn't go soft. We've just redesigned the clip, slightly different shape. Send us the old clip (or knife) and we'll send you the new one, or replace it on your model.
Rico, the forum Vesuvius will be a while still. We doing some testing on refinements to the model before sending it out again.
Carlos, I imagine we'll eventually make a Puerto Rican flag. Sooner or later, someone will see a market for each flag. We have to make a minimum of 300 flags.

Sal, on the subject of flags on the Pride, has looked into making it possible to have other logos available? Masonic and Scout versions would doubtlessly sell briskly, as would about any other fraternal and social group around.
About any organization is large enough to nearly guarantee the minimum of 300 sold. After all, the flag is simply a pop-in, right?
Just a thought.
Keepin' it real...real sharp, that is.
