Ok guys i've given a new FRN delica(3 months) to work in, tried every lube under the sun and used this 1 daily and it's still as tight as when i bought it..ATS-55 version. Can warranty dept repair this for me? Am i giving this a long enough break in period? I hate to send it back, but it's driving me nuts. This is the 1st spyderco i've ever had a problem with and i have 29 now! I dont like complaining about a fine product but i imagine a few slip by reguardless of how careful a company is. Ron

I don't think my FRN Delica, ATS-55, has loosened up much from my purchase 3 yrs ago(aug '99 - aug '02).

I have only lubed this one with weapons lube though.

I also have a FRN Delica ATS 55 and it was tight too when I got it. Now it works smoothly.
Keep on opening and closing it. Also, to accelerate that polishing process I put the blade into hot water for a few seconds. That made the blade to dilatate and therefore, the friction is stronger, so the abrasion. I have noticed no structural damage to the blade or to the pivot pin due to this treatment, but ask others if you want to try.
