I have a lot of spydies, but I just got my first police model. I know it's old, but can't identify its origin (no box). It has bright shiny surfaces on the handle, non-magnetic (maybe aluminum?), rivets show through, a clip but no lanyard hole. The PE blade says "POLICE MODEL". There's no indication of blade material stamped on the blade.. only SPYDERCO / SEKI japan.
Anyone know about this?
Many thanks.

Is it possible for you to post a pic of any stampings? I can't think of a which does not have the steel listed, though maybe older Polices didn't.
Keepin' it real...real sharp, that is.

Sorry, S&S, I don't have a camera. The only identifiers on the blade are "POLICE MODEL", with SPYDERCO on front and SEKI on reverse.
Thanks for trying to help anyway.

SD,
The only metal handle, non-magnetic models I can think of would be the Aluminum and titanium handle versions,
The presence of the rivets would make me lean towards the aluminum model.
Some aluminum models had flush rivets and others had raised ones.
tufram coated aluminum models were very smooth while uncoated aluminum models had a brushed finish.
The attached pic shows the tufram aluminum under the brushed.
hope this helps.

Recoil... I'm forever indebted. Great pix, and I conclude mine is a shiny(not brushed) uncoated aluminum model. I just don't know why it says "POLICE MODEL", while others I see just say "POLICE".
Thanks again.

Samo, thanks, glad you like em!
SD, The blade inscription changed a few times on the police models.
With the ones pictured, the tufram says POLICE while the brushed version is blank.
BTW, the non-tufram version scratches easily so I glass bead blasted mine & now looks alot better.
Sal gave me the engraved tufram police back in 94 and after extensive carry it still looks great.

Your blade is most likely G2, which was later name-changed to Gin-1 (Gingami-1. What can I say? I'm mr. Trivia...or Trivial). Police Models have been labeled with "P.I.G." (Pride Integrity Guts), "Police Model", "Police", and in the case of my ATS-34/Titanium handled version, no model name at all. While the Titanium Police had visible rivets, they were finished flush with the handle, rather than the domed type of rivet used on the aluminum ones I've seen...and the G-10's, too, I think...
Its all fun and games til somebody loses an eye, then its fun and games you can't see.

Thanks, Haji. You helped, and I think I'm getting closer. The rivets on mine are flush, not domed, but the handle is very shiny, almost a mirror finish. I'm guessing it's aluminum, due to the light weight. Thanks again for all your help.
