If i remember correctly, back in the early 90's Spyderco used to import other knives made in Sakai Japan, and sold them under the Spyderco name. It's not truly a spyderco, but it's not exactly a fake either...

It's not a Spyderco, and was not sold under the Spyderco name, but as ClusterFlux noted, some of the G. Sakai Intrepids were imported and sold by Spyderco back in the 90's. However, since then, they've also been imported and sold by others. In this case, the connection with Spyderco is tenuous at best since the knife is in a G. Sakai box.

Decent looking knife. I like the G10/bolster combo.It's not G-10, it's checkered Kraton. Excellent grip, but IMHO it doesn't really hold up well on a pocket knife.

Agreed, Deacon. I like the feel of Kraton and have several knives that use it (Pro-Venator, Snap-it, and some non-Spyderco models), but it isn't durable enough for the long haul.
