Quick question guys, what angle should I use on the Sharpmaker for the Mouse?

Thanks

I'd go 30. VG-10 is tough enough that it can handle 30, unless you plan on cutting bone with the little bugger!

Keepin' it real...real sharp, that is.

I don't have a Mouse, but if I did, I would start out with 15-degrees per side (30 total, as S-and-S said). The Mouse seems like one of the "little big knives", but no matter how you slice it, it's still little. Hard to believe you'd be torquing the edge badly on the thing, and certainly not doing many things that require a thick edge for toughness.

With my smaller knives, I like to make them really really sharp, with nice thing bevels.

Joe's word is gospel on this! And I repeat....Heed Joe's advice. He is the resident steel expert. For more info, do a search of the Forum and check out some of his previous posts on the diffences in steels and sharpening. He did considerable research on the subject and his word is as solid as the steel in any Spydie!

Morning Chuck,

The Mouse is a smaller lockback introduced in 2000. It is a collaboration with Tim Wegner of Blade Tech and a unique little folder, small enough to fit comfortably in your pocket, and tough enough for the larger jobs. It has a 1 7/8” VG-10 blade and a 3" anodized aluminum handle with ambidextrous removable pocket clip. Weighs about 2 oz.

I have not owned or handled the Mouse so I can't speak with much authority on the little guy. If she's lurking about, our most enthusiastic Mouse owner would be Kahz (now Spyderlady of the North). Maybe she can chime in with a few words.....

Apologies for the pic. Downloaded it directly off one of many knife sites.

Ah, the Mouse. A Police in Mouse clothing!

To expand on Java's wisdom, the Mouse is quite possibly the finest little cutter I've ever owned. The size is perfect to ride in the watch pocket of a pair of pants, and thus makes a great formal knife.

If you are in the market for a small folder, I'd highly recommend it, though it is a touch pricy.

Keepin' it real...real sharp, that is.
