Alright, so that rather sad time has once again befallen the Forum. <img src="sad.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> I know, it IS a good thing really. But, I just can't seem to fathom just how much time college is going to bite out of my <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> Forum time. I will be starting on August 20th, (Tuesday), on my sophmore year at Tri-State U. I will be taking 17 credit hours this semester which will be a wee bit of a jump for me. (I'll get used to it, I'm sure...<img src="tongue.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>)

So, how many <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> members are we going to loose to the halls of higher education? Let's hear about your school plans....<img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

Peace out y'all!

Michael Reinhold

PS. I'll still try to get on once in a while to check up on the latest Spydie News and such, but it'll probably be rather short due to all the homework I'll be tackling. (<img src="sad.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>)

I started up at CalPoly this summer. I am doing aeronautical engineering and hope to graduate in about 4.5 years.

Not going to college per se, but going for my A+ Cert &amp; CISCO Networking, CCNA Cert.

Good luck to all of you heading into the hallowed halls of higher ed for the first time <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

was going to be starting Electrical Engineering this fall... but long story made short and all...
need 65%, had 55%... EXACT same course in HS as they give in 1st yr at SIAST(Kelsey)[due to my teacher in HS], so was going to allow it... not enough spots available this time around, I missed by 15 spots... Taking Nights Classes, Tuesday/Thursday, 3hrs, Sept 10 -- Dec 16th...
top of the list in the fall of 2003... 2 yrs here then 1 in SAIT(Calgary) for avionics... then down south!

I'm a Supervisor at the same College that I graduated from back in 1990 (I've worked there since late in '90). We start back up on the 23rd of September, so alot of my &quot;free time&quot; will be gone then, but I'll still be here everyday.

I'll be back at Uni for my Junior year, reasonably light load of 15 hours.

<img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>Nut- 17's doable, I've pulled it off before. Simply don't plan on sleep. <img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> I pulled 18 my freshman year, which is beyond human capability.

Keepin' it real...real sharp, that is.

Mike (SpyderNut),

What course of study are you following?

<img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> Jaxon <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

Weekend yet?

Jaxon,

I'm currently working on my bachlor's in Accounting, which requires 120 credit hours from TSU. (To get my CPA, I'll have to push an additional 30 hours to make 150 for the state of Indiana....<img src="sad.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>) But, I may use those 30 extra hours to begin on some engineering courses. We'll see what happens...<img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

S&amp;S,

Are you sure there's life during college?! <img src="tongue.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> I only hope that I will have some downtime for zzzz's and other *required* stuff. <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

Cheers!

Mike

'Nut- It's all a matter of priority. That semester, I didn't have much of a life! However, once you pick 'n choose your courses (fun stuff in with the tough), life is pretty good.

Actually, I have 2 labs, which makes 15 more like 17.

Keepin' it real...real sharp, that is.

Linda, I share your pain.

Fellow forumites please forgive me the following: Midget, a word of caution, the city of Ann Arbor has a 3 inch limit law on the books. Anything larger is a felony CCW violation and a free trip to jail. Now I'm not telling you what to or not to carry, but what ever you do decide on PLEASE be careful. A2 is a great town. I hope your experince here is a great one.

hey, thanks for the heads up, nemo.

i read about that earlier on. but, i also did read something about it being allowed to carry a fixed blade of up to 4 inches. the 3 inch rule applies to folders only, right?

Just like Linda, I feel the nostalgy of the days I were a student... No spidies those times, just balisongs and girls <img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

cmassicotte,

I am going to start studying for my CCNA as well. Will use Sybex and Cisco Press books.

Midget,

Your correct. 3 inches on folders and 4 on fixed. Although I'd advise against carrying a fixed blade. As I said before, A2 is a great town. Pretty laid back. It's one of the few areas where I don't feel the need to carry anything excessive.

Canton is two cities east of Ann Arbor. 10 to 15 miles away.

Whoa it just hit me how much I am gonna miss feeling that Spydie in my pocket, during the school day <img src="sad.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

And also the security of a Spydie. I walk home from school and with all the kidnappings and what not, and with the most recent being only 90 miles from here. I just wanna be able to carry a Spydie even more so for the walk home.

Some irresponsible people in the past can screw it up for a whole heck of a lot of people in the future..*sigh*

Ann Arbor may indeed have a local ordinance restricting folders to 3&quot;. If so, it has to be a misdemeanor with a max fine $500 &amp; 90 days in jail. While I doubt this matters much to the law-abiding amongst the forum, law-breakers are very interested in penalty-differences. No local ord. under law may be a felony in Michigan (unless they take the CCW law and make it a misdemeanor instead of a 5 yr felony as Detroit did many years ago).

Plus lawyer fees and court costs, you could end up spending a couple of grand.

Well, I'm already back in school. We started on August 8th. It appears I am on the opposite end of the scale as I am a 7th grade science teacher. I am starting my 19th year as an educator in the state of N.C. Guess I'll stick with it now! I teach at a fairly large middle school where we have around 1000 kids in grades 6-8. I've carried a knife since year one and until told otherwise will have one until year 30. Today it was a Crawford custom KFF.......big brown dropped off a package around lunch so now it is a Crawford custom Perfigo. AWESOME,AWESOME, blade!

Mrs Calypso is back in school. She teaches English and now I won't get anything good to eat unless I cook it myself. I'm thinking about beef tenderloin on smoked on the grill.

I'm not actually a student, but I work as a captioner for deaf students in universities and community colleges, so I will be back on a couple campuses again. I usually carry whatever I always carry anyway. The only knife I bring out is either my Victorinox Classic or Leatherman Micra, and that's only to use the little screwdriver to connect my steno machine to my computer in the classrooms.
