A recent and very pleasant trade with J Smith has equipped me with two new Spydies...

A G-10 Harpy and a Wegner Jr. w/ the 60/40 edge. What handsome knives these are.

I have wanted to get a G-10 Harpy for a long time now, and now that I see it in person it's even nicer than I had expected. What a robust design it is. The blade thickness along the spine inspires much confidence, as does the steel liner along one side. The G-10 is very grippy and the action smooth. I'll write more about this knife once I've done more cutting with it. This knife still has the factory edge I believe, and man is it sharp!

The Wegner Jr. is new to me, but the design is not. I had a pe version of the Jr. awhile back which I traded, and still own a large, plain edged Wegner. I wasn't sure how useful I'd find the combo edge on this smaller blade but again, now that I see it in person and have used it a bit I really like it. This Wegner Jr. could well become one of my most used small EDC’s. I am always impressed by the manufacturing quality of the Wegner collaborations when I see them. Very nice indeed.

Glad you like. The G10 Harpy had never been sharpened, that was the factory edge.It impressed me too.BTW I love that SE Milli.seems like the serations are cut more shallow in it and cut through non fiberous(?)things better.

Jeff,

I'm glad you are enjoying that Millie in ATS-34, w/ serrated edge. I believe that the serrations are somewhat less pronounced on these early models alright. I had a new- style serrated Millie that I traded at the local Spyderco store for that knife; because of it's appearance (diamond engraving) and my affinity for ATS-34. At the time I had them together side-by-side, I was sure I could notice a slightly different serration profile. I guess it makes sense that the shallower teeth wouldn't "catch" as much as the deeper ones.

I still own a plain edge, ATS-34 Millie which I use all the time. I think the old style Military is a very classy knife indeed.
