Anybody who has a Bob Lum Tanto Folder or has handled one, let me know what you think. I have one on its way but haven't held one before and while I am waiting anxiously for mine to arrive I would like to hear what I have to look forward to. Thanks.

Mark,

I have one that is in EDC rotation with an Endura. I love them both.

I have the titanium handled Lum Tanto Folder. It's a great knife, excellent fit and finish, a really stout blade, and an interesting design. The tanto blade shape isn't for everyone but I do like the way Lum and Spyderco have produced this one.

I like it enough that I had Gary Graley make a custom leather sheath to carry it in (see the attached image). That's my knife (minus the clip). I exhanged the short lanyard which Gary added for one tied out of rawhide.

Check out Gary's work at

Hope you enjoy your new Spyderco Lum

Now that's a very impressive sheath. Thanks for the link.

I can't wait to get my hands on that Lum. Monday is Labor Day so that is at least one more day I will have to wait since mail won't be running. With any luck I'll have an engraved Native II on the way soon, too. The excitement is killing me.

I didn't buy the Ti Lum or have the sheath made because I had a use for it - I just really wanted it!!!

If you'd like a different in a sheath by Gary, check out the Chinook. Use the same link above - it's at the bottom of the page.

Hey - I use the pocket clip on all the rest of my s , but it's OK to be a little different on some. I bet Gary could make a great looking sheath for a Lum Chinese.

Chuck,

I think they are going to have to name a wing after you.

4 s ter - As you have quite possibly figured out, it is not need but want that drives me. I want the Ti Tanto for two reasons -
One) - I really like titanium scales. I own 2 knives with Ti handles now, the Ti Salsa and a Gerber Airframe. Sooooooo........ I had been dreaming about the Ti Tanto and then
two) - I saw your first post with the pic of your Ti Tanto and sheath. And the sheath just sort of put it over the top. I even added Gary's web page to my favorites before I closed the thread.

So, anyway, it certainly is not a matter of need or use - it simply a case of my wanting one more toy.

And then... You just couldn't leave it alone, could you? You had to plant the idea of a sheath for a Lum Chinese Folder into the deep dark recesses of my tiny brain.... That too, just might be over the top - and what a cool idea it is. I will let you know just what comes of your evil <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>wit.

I got it! It arrived in the mailbox this morning. Wow! When I took it out of the box my wife said "That's a big knife." I like it. This is the first time I have seen the G-10 handle in person. It sure is "grippy".

I like the silver blade better also, but I got a good deal on the black blade so I took it instead. Maybe I will get one with a silver blade, too.
