It has been noticed in this forum, a number of us,myself included, are starting to appreciate the value of the Salsa. It is a good knife!! BUT, I was wonderingabout it being enlarged to fill the SERE(Survival Escape Resistanc&Evasion)knife roll. Here are 2 drawings I made up .
Salsa Grande-1 is based on the venerable Al Mar SERE knife.
Salsa Grande-2 is based on the the TOPS CQT Magnum folder.
Think it has possiblities????

Hey Big-Target,
nice drawings--you got a good idea there...you should have included dimensions as i'm not sure of the size of that other knife. ken

Would the ATR fit the bill?

Good stuff BT - I agree a bigger Salsa would be great, especially with G10 scales.
Actually the existing Salsa with G10 scales would be great.
Carlos - when will the ATR be released?
Thanks

Wow, what a coincidence, separated by an ocean, an entire continent, and yet posting within a minute of each other while asking basically the same question with only one word different...

I believe that production is supposed to start in Jan of 2003. So maybe Feb?

I handled the ATR at the Spirit of Steel Show, and as the owner of an original AMK SERE folder from the 80's, yes, I think the ATR has this category covered.

I think it could become a nice knife, nicer than the ATR. For unexplainable reson, the ATR just doesn't hit the spot (speaking only for myself, of course)

The ATR doesn't hit the spot for me, either. The Gunting, Mili, and Civi do it for me on the larger end. Anything larger, and it's fixed-blade time for me, at least for now.
After playing with the ATR at the SOS, I still have mixed feelings about it. Seems like a jester on steroids to me - maybe its the rest/upsweep on the blade. It should be hot seller (NOT AS HOT AS THE PARAMILITARY OR THE SS CRICKET THOUGH! We need these YESTERDAY!! Sorry, sometimes that jsut slips out.) Bring 'em all on.....and by all means the "new" collaboration up there in image 2 from that designer from behind the Steel and Tabasco Curtain in Socialist NJ - the Big Target Habernero Folding Tanto!!

I feel the same thing. Though I like the ATR, a big salsa would certanly hit the spot.
It could be named Jalapeño

Habenero came to my mind.
