I am planning on getting a knife with a convex edge (a Fallkniven S1) and I was wondering if this knife can be sharpened with the sharpmaker. I'm sure it can if I use it as a bench stone, but can the knife be sharpened using the stones in the V positions?

Thanks in advance...

Mundele, good question. I'm interested in your topic because I have a Busse Basic #5 and wondered about how I would sharpen it with the Sharpmaker.

It's good to see that I'm not the only one wondering about this. Any suggestions from the resident experts?

No problem sharpening it with the Sharpmaker, but the very edge will not be convex any more. I sharpen my Moran (convex edge) on my sharpmaker.

Does it take a long time to remove that rounded edge? Do you have to rebevel that edge the first time you sharpen it?

Just sharpen it like any other knife.
