The place to get modified versions of existing Spyderco models, for example:
- a fully serrated Moran
- a Military with a selection of G10 colored
handles such as: desert/tan, green, camo,
blue.
- Endura/Delica with Military style 'thumb
serrations'
- Different colored concealex sheaths for
the Moran, and concealex neck sheaths for
the folders.
- The option of ordering a left handed model which is not in production, i.e. Military, Starmate, Gunting etc...
- The option of using titanium or other handle materials for regular Spyderco models.
- mmm, a gold 'medal' Military with anodized titanium handles. (OK I confess, I really want a flat ground gold coin sebenza with a Spyderco hole <img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle> )
This is maybe not for everyone, and in some cases it might take away business from other smaller enterprises (in the case of concealex sheaths for example), and some of the things I mentioned could be done at home. The degree of customization should also probably remain within certain limits, i.e. colered FRN Spydies require a minimum of 500 pieces I believe. I realize that such customized spydies would be quite a bit more expensive than their production counterparts, but I wouldn't mind.
But the idea of having a Spyderco custom shop where you can get your Spyderco customized by the same people who make them so well in the first place is very appealing to me. How many of you would like to see such a custom shop as part of the Spyderco brand?
