Ok, so the last batch didn't trun out too well... and I finally bought a cheap cut last night. The Groundbeef jerky is tasting a bit odd, so I junked it.

Inside Round, marinating steak... with a small but nice amount of marbling. I chopped off the fat on the sides and ended up with about 350grams of meat for my $3.20

Cut it up into 1/4" slices, some about 3.5-4" long, and soaked in a tariyaki from 2300-0730... it says 6-8hrs and I ended up with 8.5...

spent till 0800hrs patting dry, and used 3 of my 4 trays... it's under the stove fan, and I'm still smelling the tariyaki down at this end of the house, although the house doesn't smell like a butcher shop again.

Says for my machine depending on thickness of slices, moisture in the meat, and humidity, it will take anywhere from 4-15hrs... I'll be home for the first 10hrs... it also says to wrap it in papertowel for 2hrs prior to packaging(to soak up excess oil)...

it's gonna be a long day walking past the jerky all day. Just hope I have new toys to take my mine off it. Mail comes in 4hrs...

ok, I put up with 7hrs of it, and it's done... bit on the dry/brittle side, so next batch(use the same type of meat b/c of price) will go for 6.5hrs, and try that...

Ground beef jerky...what jerky heathen told you that was good? Only thing GB Jerky's like is a SlimJim, and those things are terrible.

Give me a good strip of Jerky-leather any day! <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

Never underestimate the impossible.

S&amp;S&gt; the attachment tool thingie came with my seasonings... I could have spent 15 and got 6 packs of seasoning and cure, or 20 and get 5 and the ground meat thing...

had to give it a shot... might have been better with extra lean, but I only had lean ground...

I normally eat Elk jerky, bought from the butcher shop where I spent my early years(we left the farm when I was 5)... best jerky I've had. Teriyaki and peppered are the best

EDIT: con't...
There are 2 families out there that farm Elk... one is across the road from town(back road, not really highway)... the other is about a a mile south/west. They just sell a few to the butcher as he needs them, and the jerky is good and fresh.

although it's $8/lbs of jerky (if bought direct from the shop, $10 in the grocery store), and I've only seen it in the surrounding towns... it's worth the trip. Last weekend I bought another 5, 2 to eat and 3 for fridge... I've got 1 left in the fridge...
