Can anyone tell me what new models are featured in the 2003 catalogue?
Thanks <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

Hi Cool:
Talking from memory here, as my catalog is not with me, I'll list a few:
Dodo (cool folder with G-10 and ball-bearing lock)
SpyderSaw (just that...a folding saw in an FRN handle)
ATR
Ronin
Impala
SpyderHawk
Maddox (fixed blade "chopper" made with one-handed use in mind)
I'm sure I forgot something though.

SS Cricket
Par Palam e Flamma Fert Spiritus
How do I get a 2003 catalogue? Can I just email Spyderco and ask them for one?
Also are there any pics of these new 2003 blades?

My dealer in Dallas gave me a quick shot of what’s new through his catalog and its accompanying welcome letter.
2003 Models recently introduced include the Impala, Spyderhawk, SPOT, and the SE and trailing point versions of the ‘Lil Temperance.
Up and coming are the:
SS Cricket PE & SE
ATR (At-The_Ready) PE & SE
Anniversary Delica PE
Dodo PE
Paramilitary PE & SE
D’Allara Rescue SE
Ronin PE
Spydersaw SE
Maddox PE
Not sure about where the Native III falls but it’s listed as a 2003 model also. There are also improved models of our old favorites and possible mystery models in the making. No further comment........

The one I saw(stopped off at www.beckscutlery.com tonight) that caught my eye was a black bladed Perrin. <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

The 03 consumer catalog is just around the corner. I think in January is when it will be released. Call or email Spyderco then.
Those that have aquired a dealer catalog might have gotten one from a local dealer they associate with or are friends with. They aren't printed in large numbers for general consumers. Your best bet is to hang tight for a month. I'm sure several of the new models won't be available until spring or later.
Pictures of the new models are tightly regulated for web use in relation to their release dates for several reasons. One is to preserve the integrity of the designs from cheap knock off producers jumping ahead in the market releases. It has happened to Spyderco before, so it makes sense for everyone here not to give up too much. Unfortunately this is the 'world wide' web scanned by scammers as well. Just something to think about.
take care,
Ken

Let me guess, the Spydersaw is based on the venerable Catcherman. My second guess would be the endura handle.

Thanks gents <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>
Looks like another cracking year for Spyderco and another woeful year for my wallet LOL.
What does the Dodo look like?
The Spydersaw sounds ace.

The Dodo as pictured had blue G-10 scales, which taper into a very graceful shape near the base to fit the hand. The blade appeared to have a slight curve to it, and is not long. Sort of reminded me of a kerambit which was straightened out some. The knife appears to be well suited as a general utility folder.
I'm definitely getting one when they come out!

The Dodo sounds cool!
-3 inch blade would you say?
Slight curve - like a MT Kestrel? (see pic)
Ball lock?
Dam, is it another must-have Spydie? <img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

Yes, I THINK the blade is going to be in the sub 3" range...
The curve seemed to be more pronounced than that of the Kestrel, though less so than Harpy/Merlin
Yep, Ball-bearing lock.
I'll check my material and re-post the blade length.

My mistake. The Dodo lists a cutting edge of under 2", and had PE or SE option.
"I am what I am, and that's all that I am"....Popeye
Several of us handled this grippy G-10 baby at the SOS and other blade shows. The Dodo lists a cutting length of 1 3/4" and an S30V blade length of 2 1/2". Part of the blade length is taken up in the choil. The blade's cutting edge has the reverse S design similar to the Cricket and has a more defined hump that declines after the hole and a more pronounced drop to the tip. The the top edge where it drops to the tip is less rounded and appeared to have a bit of a false edge (swedge). Reminds me kind of like the front of a raptor's beak. The ball lock performed effortlessly at the SOS and is ambidexterous. The spring also ensures the ball still locks if there's any wear. The wire clip is simiar to, but thinner than the clip on the Salsa. The blue G-10 scales are well finished, look cool as ice cubes, and the whole handle is designed to give you an excellent grip for better control and a more powerful cut.
If you love Crickets, Sling Blade, et al, and have larger hands, <b>this is your knife!! </b> If you love Spydies and have any kind of hands this is also your knife. If you have no hands......you got me on that one. Watterya doin' playin' with knives anyway?

To me the Dodo sort of looked like a folding spot.

mmm... folding spot.. I think the "war-paint" dodo is C<img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0><img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>L! If you get hold of the '03 catalog, check out the custom engraving page! Spyderco did an excellent job on the "tattooed" dodo! From the looks, the dodo is one solid knife and to top it all, we'll get to enjoy the exclusive "ball-bearing" lock! <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0><img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0><img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

And what "Ronin" is going to look like?
I guess it will de something tanto-looking, long ang agressive. ( BTW making it a 2" with a blunted would make a very nice joke:-))

Morning!
The 2003 consumer catalog went to the printer this morning and is going through a press check as my coffee-wobbly fingers type this.
The day the printer delivers them I'll post a new thread here and start having you email me your mailing addresses. Most likely that will be next week after the holiday. Thanks for your patience!

don't suppose you could pull some strings and send me a dealer cat instead? I'll wait till the commercial cats go out.

Okay...get up off your knees guys ~RLOL.
Wish I could but the dealer catalogs are for dealers. The PDR (consumer catalog) has all the same information minus wholesale buying information and items sold only to dealers (like knife displays).
Would you feel better if I sent two or three PDRS? I can do that!

Thanks Joyce.
Are the Dodo, Spydiesaw and ATR in the new consumer catalogue?
I know that they are in the *forbidden dealer only cat* <img src="sad.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

Howdy Pyton! Welcome to <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>Land! <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>
All you have to do to get a catalog is e-mail Joyce with a request and a mailing address when they come out. It's free, and you'll have it in a couple weeks, at most.
Never underestimate the impossible.
