I like to carry this knife because it's thin and fits deep and carries really good in my jeans pocket. Did this knife ever pass the "Spine Whack" test? How strong was the locking mechanism? I get spooked when I carry it in a forward grip because there is really no place to put my thumb. If I were to accidentally hit something hard while thrusting, I don't see how I couldn't keep my hand from sliding forward onto the blade. To solve this problem, I basically use this knife in reverse grip but, there are times when a forward grip is better. Help on this one gang! I really like this knife. One last thing, what is a "Pistol Grip". I've heard of it and because I don't own any guns, this is somewhat hard for me to decipher. Thanks for reading my forum!!

Yeah, I've been using this one more and more since I quit smoking. Its funny how your pants shrink when you quit smoking.....<img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

I have A SE Ayoob that KBR<img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> sent me.
A "pistol grip" is defined in Webster's
Collegiate Dictiionary (10th ed.) as :
"1 : a grip of a shotgun<img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> or rifle
shaped like a pistol stock. 2 : a
handle shaped like a pistol stock."
Satisfied? Elsewise go to a local gun
store (NOT Wal-Mart<img src="sad.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>) and peruse the
fine "wares"<img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

I came to the same conclusion about the hard thrust dilema. I'd omit hard thrusts with the Ayoob. IMO, it is has beautiful geometry as a power slasher. Relying heavily on gross motor slashing mechanics minimizes applying negative pressure against the lock. As it's been stated before, in g10 this model would most likely have enjoyed a larger audience.
On occation I'll slip the Ayoob IWB and it does carry real well due to it's slim profile.
take care,
Ken

I have a serrated Massad Ayoob, but I'd rather have a serrated SS Police model in its' place, as I like the style of the Police models alittle better.

I HAVE A SERRATED AYOOB...IMHO IT'S THE BOMB OF SELF DEFENSE KNIVES. IT IS UNOBTRUSIVE AND DEFINITELY A BAD HOMBRE. I'M SURE THE LOCK STRENGTH IS THE SAME AS THE OTHER MARTIAL BLADE CRAFT OFFERINGS. MINE LOCKS UP LIKE NO OTHER KNIFE I OWN..SPYDIES INCLUDED.

The lock on the Ayoob is rated as MBC scale, I don't think it breaking would be a problem. Ron
