Scratched up handles

I have a stainless steel Delica and was wondering if there is anything you can do get rid of the scratches that appear on the handle after a while. *UK*

I've recently refurbished an old stainless Worker with wet and dry paper, following the instructions of the late James Mattis. I started with 240 grit and went through to 600 grit although I think 400 grit would have given a more serviceable finish. Most important part is to use a sanding block and make all the srokes with the final grit in the same direction so that there are no marks from the return strokes.

It came up really well. There were a couple of dings which were just too deep to sand out but the rest has a lovely brushed satin finish. I had a &quot;chai&quot; sand blasted onto it in memory of James Mattis and am really pleased with the final result. I'll try to post a picture of it when I get back to work, that is if our digital camera's been repaired <img src="sad.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle>.

i used the scotch brite to get out all the scratches on my harpy. then hit it lightly with some jewelers rouge on my bench grinder with a buffing wheel and got a nice mirror polish. looks better now then the first day i bought it.

Ive got an SS D'fly and yes, its getting scratched up. My question is not how to make it smooth again, but is there an alternative finishing like sandblasting or anything like that - that will a) provide better grip and b) resist scratches? I agree with many - why sand and polish since it will get scratched up again. Im looking more for some more grip. Apologies if this is posted somewhere else.
