Hi Bram,
No, we don't wait... LOL.
I went back back and looked at some images of the very early Chinook prototyoes (linerlock with metal handle), and I think I see what you mean: The blades seem narrower and longer (proportionately), a wider hollow-grind, and only a hint of swedge. Is this what is was like?
I recall Sal saying that the Chinook might end splitting into two variants -- one "utility" and one MBC. I ain't gonna complain. <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle>
I'm not going to complain either. There is definitely room for two brother clip points that have specialized qualities/purposes. I hope the '2' is a bit lighter than the original.
However, if Spyderco decides to 'evolve' or replace the current Chinook with the 2, I won't have a problem with that either.

I'd love to see a compression lock on the Chinook2 as well.

Hey guys. Any changes to the Chinook are still a ways off. We need "time" to refine. "Time" for the ELU to use the model for a variety of functions (hunting, etc.) "Time" to see how the different parts hold up. "Time" to study the model for the best changes, etc.
